Is it me or is there literally 0 point to releasing this on Dreamcast?

NG DEV TEAM always releases on DC and NG, there's as many points releasing Redux on the DC as there were for GunLord or Fast Striker.

I made a $65 dollar pledge on this the other day. Two new DC games for that price is a bargain. And if it helps bring the game to a wider audience on XBLA and PSN that can only be a good thing.

Dux was ok. I think maybe the score was a little high looking back. Not amazing enough for me to want to stump up.

So how do these kickstarter things work, do you typically have to donate in order to stand a chance of obtaining a copy?

In this instance Dux 1.5 is only going to be available through the Kickstarter, I assume as they don't mention it that this won't be the case for Redux. You pay for it using an Amazon account which is nice and handy.

The reason I say what's the point, why not just make it for PC or XBLIG? What is the benefit to releasing it on a dead console in VGA resolution?

The same reason why someone would make Pier Solar for the MegaDrive, I guess.

Just seems odd to me. But then I guess I'm not into the Dreamcast shooter scene.

How does it work with these games that have come out? Do Sega actually recognise it as an official release, do they come in the correct boxes and come on GD-ROMS?

Well on XBLIG it will fade into obscurity and no one will play it. They've already coded their game engine to run on Dreamcast, it doesn't take much work for them to crank it out for that system whereas for PC they need to rewrite the backend and for XBLIG the re-write would be pretty huge. On the PC scene no one knows them but on the DC scene they are well known and will immediately get some sales off the back of Dux. People still make games for the Atari Jaguar and Sega Megadrive so why not the DC?

No, normal CDs, region free. The likes of Trigger Heart Exelica and so on came like that in DVD style boxes.

You'd of just thought that the people who would of funded a title like this would fund it because of who is making it, not because of the format it is on.

Just had a better look at the kickstarterm and see that they plan on making it for XBLA and PSN anyway. Dreamcast release definitely just for the fan service, I guess it's a nice touch if you are a DC fan.
