    Its a really great article:

    "Whether Sony can dominate again".

That's not what it's about - this gen has proved that there is room for 3 players (4 if you count Apple and all it's Apps).

Arguably the PS3 is more successful than the Xbox 360 as it's only sold 3 million less than the Xbox 360 but has been on the market 12 months less. I've always questioned Microsoft's total units anyway as if you took away people who have bought multiple replacements due to the RROD then it must go down by a far whack.

    Yeah, that's right, I'm Sony's bitch!

Please dont EVER mention Apple and gaming as it an absolute joke, yes Apple bashing coming, and remember if they ever take over gaming im out of this hobby period.

I dont see how you can argue the PS3 is more successful?

Even if the PS3 launched a year later and has been playing catch up I dont think measuring its success by how many units sold over it's shelf life gives a more accurate reading. Its just a different viewpoint on sales figures so its splitting hairs really. I'm actually just glad that all the console platforms have sold well enough to gives us successors in the next generation. Competition and choice is what we need if you ask me so long may it continue.

As for Apple... well they're a pretty big player in mobile gaming even if they're not really taking it seriously. The more impressive the games on smart phones / tablets the more I see how restrictive touch/gesture only is massively limiting in that market. It doesnt matter how much they strive to simulate conventional controls for mainstay genres it just doesnt work well enough.

It would only take Apple to support a controller add-on natively and I could see them competing massively with the likes of Sony/Nintendo in the portable gaming space. The problem they have is they dont seem interested and are purely focused on touch control.

Whether we like it or not iOS is one of the largest gaming platforms in the world. And millions of peeps seem quite happy wih touch screen controls which are going to more commonplace in future systems if the Vita and WiiU are anything to go by.

Regarding Sony returning to a dominant position in the games industry I don't see what conditions exist to allow them the upper hand again. And does it really matter if we have a dominant platform?
