    Hitman HD Collection

A trilogy of Hitman games are being packaged together for re-release on PlayStation 3, a retailer listing suggests.

Giggedy. What a good excuse to play Blood Money again.

Even though it already was HD

One series I never tried. It got good reviews but for some reason I kept passing them up.

I really want the Blood Money port to be the next gen version and not the PS2 version... but I guess it'll be a PS2 port seeing as Tomb Raider Legend was also.

Me too. For some reason I just never fancied them.

Blood Money is the definitive game of the series, I'd skip the others and head straight to that if you haven't played.

What about the new one? is it looking as good as blood money?

The Hitman games have always been very sandboxy, you start in an area and you can explore every nook and cranny of it and approach your kills in one of many different ways.
It was very much trial and error, observing NPC behaviour and discovering environment hazards.

People have been concerned that the new one is going to be too streamlined and linear as a result of trying to give it more mass market appeal, early trailers suggested this.

A new video showed up today that make it look like it is heading in the right direction. Hopefully it will feature the sandboxy, multipath assassinations of the older games, but bring the franchise into 2012.

I much prefer the mission variation and overall mood of Silent Assassin. Where you go from infiltrating a villa dressed as a milkman, to taking down a castle in snow storm. While it might not be so streamlined and free of random mission failures as the newer ones, SA had a much bigger sense of vulnerability, whereas in the other ones I felt like an invincible assassin walking among NPCs. The next two are also good though, so you can't go wrong either way.

Disappointed that the first game missed the boat. The only one I've never played. As it's never been available on a console, I guess the port costs were deemed to high for a - to most people - dated game.

Silent Assassin was fantastic, but I always felt that the missions in Blood Money were more consistent in overall level design, more missions like that villa one.

I can't say I ever felt invincible in any of the games (with the exception of Contracts, which had sections that were pure 3rd person shooter) bearing in mind the requirements to become a Silent Assassin.

Yeah, it'd be nice to play the 1st one properly, apart from the porting costs as you say, 2,3,4 were much closer to each other in terms of quality. The 1st one was quite ropey even at the time.

The original news about this only showed it for PS3. I was just browsing shopto and they have a 360 version up for pre order. I Googled it (which is a place to search for things on the World Wide Web or the Information Super Highway) and Game apparently leaked the 360 a little while ago so more Hitman cheevs if that floats your boat.
