Could OUTRUN 2 mark the return of arcade racing fun?

Who remembers the good old days when racing games were about fun. Riding on your push bike down to the arcade after school for some arcade racing fun with ya mates, thems were the days. But today its all gone "simulation". Now i'm first to agree that the GT series reveloutionised racing games for which i'm grateful and I love the GT series to bits. But all racing games have gone this way (R: Racing Revolution ie Ridge 6 anyone ) and the racing genre you would have to agree has become stagnated of late. The last real arcade racer was Ridge Racer V, Which I still play on a regular basis 3 years after launch. With Outrun 2 on the horizon, everyone would have to agree its going to be a huge success in the arcade. I only hope we see some more arcade fun being released on consoles. For everything GT is it will never take the crown for arcade fun.

I doubt it. I was hoping F-Zero would be, they could've linked up tons of cabinets Daytona style, released it months before the GameCube version and really pushed it, but it seems everyone's given up on the arcade scene, at least in UK. You'll be lucky to even find a cabinet when it comes out here.
