    PSP and different models.

I am a fair PSP user and I am looking to change my heavy and blurry 1000 model I have had since launch. My machine is only in average condition with a fairly marked screen. I am looking to change to a 2000 or 3000 but not sure which to get.

Today I had a go on a 3000 and could notice the scanlines on the screen quite heavily. The screen did seem much more vibrant though. The machine was also lovely to hold, much nicer than I remember of the slim and lite.

I use the the machine with PSP official games, PS1 ports that I convert myself and some limited emulation. I would ideally want a model with CFW that is installed and stays in the memory.

Which model is best for this, 2000 or 3000? Also does anyone have one for sale at a fair price?

    Cheers.

I hate the 3000 for that banding. I think if you really want to upgrade from a 1000 then get a 2000. Other than that I wouldn't really call it much of an upgrade. They're less comfortable, flex more and don't have that reassuring weight.

Do you have CFW on your current 1000? Level 4 light on that is good enough for me.

Someone mentioned turning off the interlacing on the 3000 model but I didn't know about that. If so, the 3000 would be good otherwise I think you should just pick up a Slim / 2000 model. I know the Go has the bluetooth support which would be handy to hook up a pad with but not sure if the 3000 can do that, also I don't like the layout of the Go myself.

2000 Vs. 3000 really depends who you ask. The 3000 screen has superior colour depth, but does suffer from the interlace-like artifacts that you noticed. You just have to ask yourself if that bothers you enough.

Not considering the newest E1000? While it might not have Wifi or stereo speakers, it seems to have the best screen yet?

Yeah, it's a nice machine. Rather than than a 2000, unless you need the wifi or stereo.

No I really need UMD support and the ability of CFW.

Is the 2000 screen nicer than the 1000? Or perhaps a new faceplate for the 1000.

E1000 support UMD and CFW. You're thinking of Go.

Having owned all but the E1000 (I still have my 2000 and 3000):
                  Go > all.

CFW then download ISOs for the game you have on UMD*.

*Having paid for these already I don't see why this is not allowed tbh.

Just baught a 2000 model for ?50, quite a decent step up from the old 1000 I had. Much lighter. Just a few things you might want to keep in mind though; the 2000 can only output progressive if you use the video cable, whereas the 3000 can do both. There is also a motherboard model used in the manufacture of some 2000's that you can't mod fully with CFW. I'll try find out for you when I get back to my PC later.

I use my go more than anything, ergonomics are better, love the screen and the size.

Keep your phat PSP and you can cfw that and use it to rip your existing UMDs to ISOs to put on your go, no piracy involved!

I literally have no idea what to choose now!

All info is good though, thanks.

Ripping content from the original disc is the piracy dvdx is speaking of. Even for personal use it's not strictly legal, at least not here, unless the law changed recently.

                              I'm torn between the 2000 and 3000.

Which can hold CFW fully? I don't mind the screen overall if I can have composite to see it on a CRT via the video out if that is possible.
