    The Best Olympic Video Games?

Doesn't necessarily need to be an officially licensed game or even have humans in it (Viz). Near the beginning, my Dad introduced me to the ZX Spectrum and the first game I played on it was Daley Thompson's Decathlon. I was blown away. So was my Dad. Hammering the O and P buttons, then holding Shift or Space Bar to get an angle of about 45 degrees to ensure our Javelins were pumped to the max.

Outside of this game and Konami's Track & Field/Hyper Sports/Hyper Olympic that it Ocean's game clearly copied, I don't think I got that same buzz or competitive gathering from another button basher until International Track & Field on the PlayStation. What a game that was! Multitap was wedged in and socks and t-shirts were used to rub controllers.

"Who will be number one in the world?" The game announcer would say this before each event and it fired you up.

I know there are many others. Some I have missed out on. Like that one on the Saturn. The Epyx games, Summer/Winter/World. Oh, and I can't forget the awesome California Games too.

I really wish Konami would do a remake of their PS1 classic. How great would it be to have autolog style leaderboards?

I still regard Konami's PS1 game as the best.

LOL at the glitches in that 2nd vid.

I liked Decathlon on the C64, Winter (and Summer) Heat on the Saturn.

Ha ha ha, I'd forgotten Track & Field on the Playstation! It's brought back memories of some of my friends who played it and were quite competitive. They'd all invented their own technique for mashing the buttons, but the best was "The T-Shirt Rub", where the competitor would wrap the bottom of their shirt around their finger and rub across the buttons. Obviously, this looked filthy to anybody who happened to walk past the window...

Hyper Sport (1984, Arcade, Konami) is probably my favourite, especially the skeet shooting. There are Easter eggs if you shoot all the skeets!

It's also quite funny if you play it on MAME with the turbo cheat on and see what the Olympics would be like if everybody was on steroids...

I liked the ps2 track and field the best, the rhythmic gymnastic ripped from DDR was

Another vote for PS1 Track & Field, Numan Athletics is another one worth playing, it's like a futuristic Olympic Games.

Also Mach Breakers which is the sequel

Track and Field PS1 for me too. Lost hours in two player mode to that game.

Never played it. Why is it your fave? (stop me from thinking you're a Sega fan boy when I look at you avatar and username )

Its features all of what made Track and Field so great and builds on that, but then dresses is up with some magnificent humour with game the cast of Charters with their crazy looks chats and poses - which add greatly to the game

Best of all its quite easy to play and so any of your mates can join in the fun , with its simple pick and play Arcade controls

Cool. Sounds great. Track and Field is also simple to play with its 3 buttons.

I thought Konami's Combat School was great when I played it in the arcade (in Bits&Bytes Liverpool in the 80's). But looking at it now with its very few events, it looks pants. Had a track ball, mind.

                            In no particular order:

Daley Thompson's Decathlon (purely for the nostalgia - one of the very first Spectrum games I ever played!)

                            Track & Field (original Coin-Op)

                            International Track & Field (PS1)

Hard to see what betters those three, tbh. Track & Field on the original Gameboy wasn't bad, but the game really doesn't work on the handheld format when you factor in the button-bashing, the controls and small screen size.
