Seriously, it's just badly coded from top to bottom. Far more enjoyable versions of SF2 to be playing.

As a beat 'em up fanatic, Final Fight One, Double Dragon Advance and Street Fighter 2: Turbo Revival (shock!horror!!)are my all-time fave GBA games (seriously, the GBA is like having a late-80s/early 90s arcade machine in your hand!) With SF2TR, lots of people dis that version of SF2 but it's brilliant, it just feels more 'authentic' than the Crawfish port of SFA3, which is really cool but feels a bit overrated to me, I just like how Turbo Revival 'feels' (and looks).

I'm not gonna dispute your points, Nu, I used to play it casually, occasionally (like on bus journeys) and always found it loads of fun and really pretty to look at (still gobsmacked at holding a supercharged SNES, at the time, tbh). You probably played it more more extensively than I did.

If I could have just ONE GBA game, it'd be Double Dragon Advance...there is simply no need for any other GBA games if you have that.

PS: Also add in my usual GBA recommendation, Max Payne. A crackingly playable shooter, and an ideal way to port a 3D game over to a 2D version.

Are the Sonic Advance games remakes of the first 3 or are they entirely new games? - got the urge to play Sonic 2!

Watching a few gameplay vids, Max Payne looks technically very impressive, but I imagine he's a bugger to control/aim with.

Going to have a look at Double Dragon now. It's a shame Sega didn't release the Streets of Rage games for the GBA.

^The Sonic Advance games are all-new Sonic games...and worth checking out. As for Max Payne, the gunplay works *extremely* well, and is lots of fun. If there is a flaw (and there IS), then it's when you've got to navigate around fire-spewing pipes, it is HELLISH due to the isometric perspective.

I actually prefer the gunplay in the GBA version to the other versions, as there is a higher reliance on skill, and less on luck.

i^Definitely, 'cos you only have to worry about aiming on the X axis. Also like how they shoehorned the speech/comic pages in, too.

There are 3 games that always sit in my GBA Micro case for what it's worth -

                Yoshi's Island
                Wario Ware
                Mario Kart Super Circuit

Has anybody mentioned Broken Sword yet? No voice acting kinda kills it, but it's still worth a punt, I reckon.

Aria Of Sorrow, Drill Dozer & the two Mr Drillers are my favourite GBA games

Got outbid going for Metroid Zero.

I did however manage to get Rayman 10th Anniversary edition which includes both the first Rayman for the PSX and Rayman 3. Always wanted to beat the original but I recall it gets devilishly hard towards the end.

Also, quick update on my Final Fantasy 1 progress - I've finally found the ice cavern!

Been looking at getting a GBA SP as I've had enough of trying to get the perfect viewing angle while playing. Is it worth tracking down an AGS-101 model, or is the difference not that noticeable from the standard one with a frontlit (?) screen?

Frontlit is a shocker. Once you go backlit you can never go back. I liked the SP form and shell, backlit version is lovely, still bit pricey no doubt but well worth the extra cash.
Love my Micro too but sometimes feel its a bit too small.

The front lit sp is not great, the colours are really washed out. My original Advance with the backlight mod looked much better. Didn't know they did a backlit SP might hunt one down myself.

                              The backlit 101 is amazing!

One of the reasons why I kept my DS was so I could play GBA games on it. Unfortunately you cannot play original Gameboy games on it though. The front lit SPs are horrible.
