Final Fantasy VII re-released for PC

    Annoucement trailer:

Final Fantasy VII was released for PC back in 1998, but is a bit tricky to get ahold nowadays and disagrees somewhat with modern hardware and operating systems. So huzzah, then, that it was announced today the RPG will be re-worked and re-released for PC.

Not the remake many were after but I am pleased to hear it's getting a re-release - presumably it'll make its way to Steam.

I wonder if it's just the already-existing PC port, with Steamworks support added. If so, hope they sort out the midi sound.

No comments about the Character Booster? I don't know why they'd do that to a classic... Oh wait, yeah I do.

"Find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down? With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure,"

      Presumably real money.

Because it costs them zilch and is one of the most widely known video games ever made?

Would much rather see a PC version of the new HD re-release of Final Fantasy X. The Final Fantasy games that use pre-rendered backgrounds will always look strange in a higher resolution, given the polygons will be in a different resolution to the backgrounds.
