Valve Announce Steam Greenlight (Changes game submission process)

Coming the end of August, it will no doubt revolutionise the submission process for Steam if you are an indie.

Steam has always rejected certain games, just look at the history Aquaria, Gemini Rue and Noitu Love 2 are only 3 examples of games that were initially rejected, re-submitted and later approved for service. Issue always being that they were never forthcoming in reasons behind the rejections.

Steam recently took a wee bit of flack for rejecting Mutant Mudds, the 3DS platformer.

With Greenlight this problem should be solved by putting the interest in said game in the community's hands.

    What is Steam Greenlight?

Steam Greenlight is a new system that enlists the community's help in picking some of the next games to be released on Steam. Developers post information, screenshots, and videos for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution. Steam Greenlight also helps developers get feedback from potential customers and start creating an active community around their game as early in the development process as they like.
Think it's a great idea and shows another reason why Steam is always held in such high regard.
