    A timeline of Gaming

Here's something I thought that would be fun, let's make a timeline of the most important events in gaming history.

The events have to be the most defining moments, things that have affected the entire industry or altered the way the non-gaming public perceive games.

    I'll go first

1992 : Wolfenstein 3D is released, the world's first FPS
2002 : Nintendo is fined ?149million by the European Commission for price fixing

A thread of flames! For example, would you count Battlezone as an FPS? Or MIDI Maze?

    Anyway, here some of mine.

1958: Spacewar! on the PDP-1, which might not be the first ever videogame but it's probably the closest thing to it...at the very least, it can be described as the first shoot'em'up.
1966: the Odyssey by Ralph Baer
    1972: Pong
    1983: the videogame crash
1985: introduction of the JAMMA standard
    1994: Sony introduces the Playstation
2010: Cammie Dunaway leaves Nintendo. Everyone still miss her pie charts and anecdotes about children.

1983: Nintendo release the Family Computer in Japan. The 'Famicom' changes the future of gaming. Without it, things would be a whole lot different today.

1988, Nakamura gets his own computer for the first time. This sets in motion an epic chain of events that leads him to post in this very topic.

2006, Nintendo release the Wii and manage to create a whole new market in the process.

2010, Microsoft and Sony decide they want into this market and release Kinect/PS Move. Future of gaming looks set to be geared here.

2012 - Move is officially dead on arrival. Kinnect remains a nice piece of tech without a decent game to demonstrate it on. The masses continue playing Wii Sports.

Future of gaming does not look to be motion based and the big N decide we all want an iPad for a controller instead...
