Dust: An Elysian Tail Review (XBLA)

We can?t find a bad word to say about Dust: An Elysian Tail. Usually, even with the best games, there?ll be things you can look at and say ?that could have been done differently.? Rarely, and in the case of Dust, you look at it and wouldn?t change a single thing.

It's looked good from day one (apart from the character art, which isn't my thing) but I never expected reviews like this. Just one guy made this, right? Incredible achievement.

Yeah just the one guy Dean 'Noogy' Dodrell, believe he self taught XNA and C++, amazing skills.
Credit goes out to the voice cast and the music team too, they really do complete the experience, matches the quality on show I thought.

Well I just tried the demo and absolutely loved it. What a stunning achievement to make such a great game and to do it virually alone is unbelievable. The gameplay is constantly interesting and doesn't feel to button mashy. Combat is very good with lots of variation even in the trial. Visuals are generally stunning though I do find HD 2d a tad messy at times, lovely 60fps though. Music is nice overall too as is the voice acting.

I think this could be my first ever download only purchase.

If anyone is on the verge, worth pointing out some GAME store are running an offer on digital products. Get 30% extra trade in when you trade against a digital purchase, Dust should be in store ?9.99, believe its a branded redeem code that gives you 1200 MSP and you download the game yourself with the points.
