    Crash Time 5: Undercover

Despite playing through the series a few months back I literally had no idea this was coming until 2 wallpapers appeared for download on the PSN store.

For PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 comes the latest entry in the long running Crash Time series (elsewhere known as Alarm fur Cobra). The game is targeting a release of 28 September 2012 and as usual doesn't appear on UK stores meaning a preorder at Amazon.de is the way to go (approx. ?37)

    Crash Time 5 teaser trailer

The game follows the team going undercover to catch a smuggling ring. The key for this entry will be the engine, Crash Time 4 started to see the engine getting a bit long in the tooth but even if it's the same one hopefully some optimisation will sort it out as this sequel has been slower coming than the ones before.

There looks to be more variety too as in addition to the town and autobahn we also go to a Stadium and into Alpine areas. The new game will also let you play as the bad guys for a change in some missions, introduces a crash cam, online multiplayer.

Another teaser, not much different, just showing there will be a drifting mechanic

The link contains a video Q&A with the dev's about the latest game. It's not looking too bad, I've got the PS3 version on order so will be curious to see how it holds up considering how shabby a port CT4 was on the format. The game is listed for release this Friday in the EU (not the UK).

This didn't make it's first release date on consoles (the PC edition did come out though). Instead it will release tomorrow, it still hasn't appeared fully in the EU so if you do want to get hold of a copy, Amazon.de is pretty much the only way.

Did this get a U.K release in the end? Love the series, but Amazon.de is a little too expensive for my tastes these days. Especially as these games - as much as I love them - are more at the budget end of the scale.

Still not out over here. If you can nab a 360 version it might be ok but sadly the PS3 version is ravaged by slowdown, poor frames and visual issues

A bit of my continuing PC game research later and I stumbled on an old development. Turns out this series isn't tied to a publisher and the company that makes them confirmed in March that they have chosen to cease game development completely. Crash Time 5 looks likely to be the final entry. Ordered the PC version as it would be nice to try again, the PS3 version was borderline unplayable
