If I hadn't had to drive down here at 4am I'd had have been involved last night, maybe next weekend though. I think I got up to something like level 75 solo yesterday.

Getting them nailed online is a different story heh!?
I can't comment on online as it doesn't really interest me but having sunk over 250 hours into single player I can assure you for me it isn't 'easy' - though obviously I'm just rubbish at it!
Since I assume you've 100%'d the game perhaps you could give me some tips on how you did 77 inferno.

So I take the 3 hour walk over to Godzilla and still can't get anywhere near him because the npc mechs are treating Godzilla like Jodie Foster in The Accused and they won't let me get anywhere near the pinball table." :O
I do agree though it takes a long time and the Godzilla's take an inordinate amount of ammo to bring them down. I try to get in very close with something super powerful, and just hope to dodge their attacks.
Much 'easier' with WD though.

Levels won on single player are not carried over to multiplayer and vice versa, you have to play the whole game through twice.
Weapons and armour, however, are carried over.
The "unfortunately" part comes in where, if you've got a Lysander Z or Hreidmarr from farming an Inferno mission in SP, you can't then use those power-level 90 weapons on mission 1 easy because there are weapon restrictions in place (until 80% complete, I think).
It's funny that you've never played co-op and I've never played SP in all the hours we've played!
Maybe now's the time to get on board, @Ampanman, seeing as there's a few n00bs wanting to play the missions through.
With a full weapon set won from the SP, although you'd have restrictions, you'd have a better selection to use.
I'd love to fight alongside somebody even more dedicated to the game than me! I love how passionate you are about it!
Co-op is where it's at on this game.
Firstly, the classes do complement each other quite well and a power boost from or Turrets from an Air Raider help keep the drones off a Ranger whilst he's sniping.
Secondly, in my experience, there are less tools playing co-op games and more camaraderie when you work together.
Thirdly, there's always a laugh when you're playing online with other like-minded people.
You're about 9 hours ahead in Japan, so maybe one Saturday morning (8am) you could get up early to join us of an evening (11pm)?Last edited by QualityChimp; 29-02-2016, 11:23.

As for getting 77 Inferno done solo.... Unless you have a bucket load of Armor and a suitable weapon set for the character you are screwed.
That armor quantity will fluctuate drastically depending on the character too.
Have you got a 2nd player who can help you? Or one you can set up with auto firing missiles?
I can't recall the exact completeion % I have on EDF 2025, however I know even getting to the stage of unlocking the zero restriction saw every player who played the game cease playing! Including myself as I loathe playing with randoms. I'd really like to get it done 100% though on X360.
Last I looked on 2025:https://twitter.com/RetrogradeGamer/...852123136?s=09
So don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying that the offline game is easier. Because you can rapidly run through the majority of the game without any significant stumbling blocks. When compared to the restricted weapon/armour online mode.
EDF EDF EDF!!

Overall though I think that the single player version is arguably harder, because even if the enemies take more bullets the more of you that play together online at least you can mix the different soldier classes and you don't have the restrictions of being on your own backed up with CPU players which can be a hindrance.
Plus when trying to beat the Inferno levels all the human players online could use top weapons if available which doesn't really happen in single player save the WD's using Monster snipes.
I've got most of the top weapons I need except for the Stampede XM (WD's top Monster took some time to get), it's just playing around with different tactics.
I tried something new on 57 inferno with WD yesterday and really chuffed it worked out.
By the way I'm in the UK, I might give it a go this Friday if I'm free.

A great level for getting good weapons, very doable on harder levels (hardest/inferno) with a modest weapon set.

Either way, I don't think you could describe either form of Inferno as "easy"! Ha ha ha!

We can at least blast through the levels on Easy to unlock them (and add completion percentage), but we'll probably do normal for better weapon drops for those of us just getting started.

And WOW. Did they bring this kicking and screaming up to (pretty much) current gen standards.
It familiar enough to be EDF but it looks great and it is more challenging with a better stab at enemies who aren't just bullet sponges! And there is lighting on the rockets! And on the helmets! And the underground levels aren't a total boring slog any more!
This is a properly great game - can see many hours being whiled away on this one.
BUY BUY BUY.

It's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up - ItsThere!
YES!
Another one who gets it!
I'll hold my hands up and say I totally dismissed EDF 2017. No online option and pretty ropey graphics meant I ignored it until prinnysquad told me about it in the Kaiju thread. Mind blown as I pumped hours into it trying to get the good weapons to speed up progress.
EDF 2015 is a whole new beast, though. It's so deep, complex, layered and tactical. It's got the teamwork missions of Destiny with the intense difficulty of Demon Souls, or a fun arcade blast on Easy.
In the same way Tarantino has real and movie universes, where the characters of Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs would go to the cinema to see Kill Bill or Dusk Til Dawn, Earth Defense Force is the kind of videogame that videogame characters would play.
Who doesn't like saving the Earth from giant insects, robots and spiders?!
I had a good session last night getting up to mission 30. Saw the first appearance of that new kaiju fella.
Played with silent randoms, but the comms wheel is a great addition to quickly send messages.
Teamwork was front and centre with item pickups being done without reminding. Working together where necessary and splitting up when required. Very satisfactory!
The main differences from the 360 version are little touches like swaying grass and trees and the loading times. So short!

This is all music to my ears, as many know I've been on this since August - I even did a review somewhere.
Massive step up from EDF4. The extra enemies on hardest and inferno change those levels entirely.
I tried a couple last night with Air Raider, but can't really get into it. Much prefer Ranger and WD.

I'm not interested in grinding it all out twice.
Either way I assume that either online or offline gives you the trophy and it doesn't matter which you go through.
