PTE23: WiiU Be Buying Nintendo's Latest?

Well, after playing cloak and daggers for a year (you could argue they still are in many ways), Nintendo finally revealed the release dates and launch details for the WiiU. Despite their early positive talk regarding the matter, the WiiU is an expensive release and the most expensive hardware Nintendo has launched in many a year despite the age of the tech being used.

However, as the first 'next-gen' system launched, Ninty is hanging a lot on the new controller the system uses. At the current time it's set to launch in 3 flavours with the following games on Day 1:

-New Super Mario Bros U
-Tekken Tag Tournament 2U
-Rayman Legends
-Sports Connection
-Just Dance 4
-Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth
-ZombiU
-Nintendoland
-Assassins Creed III
-Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing: Transformed
-Batman: Arkham City Armoured Edition
-Ben 10: Omniverse
-Family Party
-Funky Barn
-Tank! Tank! Tank!
-Transformers: Prime
-Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013

With the Xmas Rush of releases coming out at the same time and the high cost, will you still be buying a WiiU?

I'll be buy a black US Wii U for Christmas as soon as VGP open preorders, though I'm still unsure between ZombiU and Nintendoland...both don't seem the kind of game I'll play in the long run.

I've got the Nintendoland pack on preorder and I'm currently trying to sort out what other games to get. The short list for me is:

-Darksiders 2
-Assassins Creed 3
-New Super Mario Bros U
-Tank! Tank! Tank!
-ZombiU

NSMBU seems likely merely due to the standard of the rest of the line up and ZombiU is looking good. Tank looks simple but fun and is the cheapest launch game. Darksiders 2 is mostly because I haven't picked it up already but as the PS3/360 is price dropping fast I'll likely cancel that one before it ships. I won't get chance to play AC3 on launch day so might get the WiiU one the month after for launch.

For the first time ever - I won't.

No time at the moment with work and social stuff and no money for it either with life and social stuff. I'll read lots about it but I'm going to try and stay strong. Nearly 30 and this will be the first console I haven't bought on release day since the Saturn...

None of the games remotely interest me. When Zelda rolls by I am sure I will though.

Pretty gutted Japan gets the Wii U last but I'll be standing outside my nearby game store on the morning of December 8th with my fingers crossed that I can get my hands on the Monster Hunter bundle which I'm dying to play. Will be getting NSMB Wii U along with it. It's a shame The Wonderful 101 isn't available at launch as that was my most wanted game prior to Tri G being announced.

I've had ideas about buying a PAL one. I want to be able to go into GAME to get games. I probably won't though.

Wipeout 3? I mean, I know we're supposed to be excited by WiiU versions of existing titles...

I don't think I've ever been this disinterested in a console launch since the original Xbox. There is absolutely NOTHING there for me. Plus the cost for a console + game + extra controller... It's climbing up towards launch import PS1 prices.

Besides, my backlog is waaaaaaaaay too big.

Surely that list is US? The console isn't out in the UK until 30th Nov but some of those say 18th Nov.

I've got a deposit but the more I think about it the more I think I might wait.

I've got too much on other formats to play plus work is going to be crazy busy over the next few months so I just won't have the time.

When Bayonetta 2 hits I'll be first in the queue.

Surely that's the US launch list? Everything lists the US launch date. I've already written off Darksiders 2. I look pretty set for ZombiU, NSMBU, AC3 and Tank
