[N64/PC] Super Mario 64 Co-op Mod

Couldn't resist putting something with N64 in the title in the Headlines forum.

As seen on Edge-Online, a new mod to play Mario 64 in co-op, online.

PC modder Skelux has turned his attention to Super Mario 64 and implemented a co-op mode, 16 years after the game was originally released. While Super Mario 64 DS had a multiplayer component, it was competitive and confined to bespoke stages.

Skelux’s modification doesn’t simply add a second avatar to the world, it also allows for interaction between the pair, allowing for new co-op moves such as jumping on each other’s heads for a longer leap. Plus, of course, the addition of a second player means that tasks can be divided, allowing, for example, one player to attack a boss while the other distracts it.

You’ll need a PC to play it, but once you’ve shelled out a grand for the hardware, the actual download is entirely free. Bargain.

Surely the next step is to make the 2nd player into Luigi! Could rip assets for him out of the DS version or something
