Best Halo single-player game

With Halo 4 just a few days away until official launch i thought id take a little survey of the forumites feelings on the best story or whatever did it for you, no multi-player gubbings are to be considered.

And seeing as there is 5 games, points means prizes, 5 for the best and 1 for your least favourite.

Halo singleplayer is sublime, since then it's been a steady decline into mediocity. At the least the sequels are consistently disappointing when each time they promise to recapture the magic of the first game.

Pretty much my thoughts. I watched the video review of Halo 4 and it does look much better though.

the first game did a a lot of new things with the genre, and some of the level design is great. Yet half of the game is endless dull corridors and is comparable to the original wolfenstien 3D with its dullness.

Halo Reach is without a doubt the best. It's fantastic all the way through. A brilliant game.

Of the three I played:

Halo: CE
Halo 3
Halo 2 (a distant third.)

Halo: CE was perhaps patchier, but more charismatic than 3.
