Ha, thanks!
It was all her masterplan, so she is indeed very tolerant, although she's happy getting the couch in the lounge to herself to watch Vera!
I asked for a Harmony 650 one Christmas to go in the lounge and the PS3 adaptor (it's infrared, the PS3 is bluetooth) when all my kit was in the lounge. I loved it so much, I bought another remote (Harmony 665) in a Black Friday sale a few years back for when the third bedroom was a games room (it's now our second child's bedroom).
Apart from the PS4, it'll control absolutely everything. Newer "hub" Harmony controllers will control it, but not power it on as Sony won't allow 3rd-party devices to do that.
So, instead of a sofa full of remotes to juggle, I just press one button and it drops the screen, turns on the 360 and powers up the projector.
I'd genuinely recommend them to anyone. They're expensive, but complete game changers.
They used to have an outlet for returned items, which is where I got the PS3 adaptor from:

Ah, I see. I have an earlier model, an 880, but I don't use it any more except to control a single function on my app - the switch between analog and optical input - since I lost the amp remote years ago. I never found it worked too well for me, since the IR blaster didn't seem powerful enough - pressing to begin an activity would often miss a box or two, and I'd be left fishing out the specific remotes for those items, negating the whole point.
Then of course it didn't work with the PS3 when I later got one of those, so I never ended up using it much. Maybe I should try a newer model. I liked the theory but found it disappointing in practice. Other smaller factors - the cradle not charging it unless something heavy was balanced on top of the remote to weigh it down, the awful setup software on Mac - also stood in the way of me enjoying it. That might be because it's such an early model though.

That's the complete opposite of my story!
Never had an issue and only if I'd configured the remote wrong (or moved a device to a different HDMI port than I'd programmed) did I have an issue.
I don't zap the devices square-on in the play room, but they always respond.
The one remote you charge via USB and the other uses batteries (I use Eneloop rechargeables).
If you have loads of devices, I'd definitely treat yourself.
Mine controls:
Television; Projector; PS3 (with adaptor); HDMI switch; Xbox One, Xbox 350; Virgin Tivo and the Celexon Screen.

Oooh, juicy Harmony talk! I’ve been eyeing one lately, but specifically for the Alexa integration. Are you able to apply a delay between certain things happening - i.e. turn on X and in five seconds make it switch to channel Y? I’m wanting to bring some smart plugs into the equation too, but if it’s going to do everything (power source turning on + setting HDMI sockets etc) at once I can see it tripping itself up...

What's your beef, chief?

Ha, cheers chaps.
I'll take some new pictures at the weekend (when it's light) and do a reminder of what we've done.
I'm really pleased with the new HDMI switcher.
If anyone comes here from a web search, I bought a Revesun 6x2 HDMI 1.4 True Matrix Splitter/Switch.
There are a few versions with different names, but I discovered that on MyHarmony, I was able to add the switch under this product, Etekcity® 6x2 HDMI 1.4 True Matrix Splitter/Switch, using the product number 025706341936.
Other products that might work with this product and item code are:
- 6x2 HDMI Matrix Switch/Splitter 6-in, 2-out Box Converter for High-Definition 3D
- SGEYR 4KX2K 1.4V HDMI Matrix Switch Splitter 6x2 6 in 2 out with Remote Control + ARC,SPDIF optical Audio Extractor Switch
- Monoprice Blackbird 4k 6x2 HDMI Matrix with Audio, HDCP 2.2
- Aukson 6x2 HDMI Matrix Switch Splitter 6 in 2 out 3D MHL Arc Audio SPDIF
- LINDY 6x2 Port 4K HDMI 2.0 UHDin Picture Matrix Switch
I hope this info is useful to someone in the same way it helped me!
I spent about an hour on the MyHarmony app, adding and removing devices, then updating the commands.
So I've got one that turns on the telly and turns it to HDMI2, HDMI switch and sets the output connected to the TV to show the Tivo box.
I also did a PS4 command, but didn't bother adding the PS4 as I can't control it with the model of remote I have, so it just drops the screen, turns on the projector and tunes the HDMI to the PS4's output.
It takes a bit of time, but saves you loads in the long run. I'd been manually turning those devices on previously!
wakka, I apologise, I quoted two live model remotes that Harmony sell, I've actually got older models (I only realised after logging into MyHarmony). In the lounge I have the Harmony 600 and in the play room, I have a Harmony 700. Both are excellent.
