Nintendo 3DS (thread twooooo)

One thing that's irritating about the eShop; Nintendo require you have enough space before you can buy stuff.

There's a Christmas sale on right now, I want to buy a ton of stuff, but my new SD card still hasn't arrived (it was meant to come on the 24th). Hopefully it'll come tomorrow.

Besides the fact that I actually don't have a proper cross-head screwdriver to open up the back of my New 3DS to replace the Micro SD card on it (a problem I can obviously remedy by ordering one), I think that it's starting to dawn on me that perhaps I should've ordered the New 3DS XL instead. The New 3DS is only ever-so-slightly bigger than the original 3DS (I was lead to believe that it was actually halfway between sizes) and I'm that used to the screen size of my 3DS XL and how much more comfortable it feels in my hand that I don't think I can go back to a smaller model.

I'm thinking that I might do a Teddymeow and sell my New 3DS but use the money to order a New 3DS XL.

1) Is it possible to change a setting or something which makes the power button for the 3DS actually instantly switch the unit off? It's very annoying, every time, to have to go to that "reminder" screen and hit the touchscreen. I'll just close the unit if I ever want it to go on standby, but when I press the power button, I want it to turn OFF.

2) On the New 3DS, is there no longer a button etc. to turn off the wifi functionality? There doesn't appear to be.

I'm tempted to make my own faceplate - one with a solar cell on it.

1) Not 100% but probably not seeing as Nintendo ask at least 3 times for example if you are sure you want to purchase something from the shop and judging also by the amount of times Nintendo ask are you sure you want to do a system Transfer. I think this is there machine policy as they don't want an accidental thing to happen.

That's even worse, I think - not sure but I think sweeping to try and "find" wifi is one of the most power-intensive things wifi hardware can do (or am I thinking of mobile phones?).

There's no physical button, but there's a setting one in the Home menu (where you change themes).

The SD card doesn't just slot in? You have to unscrew a cover first?! D'oh!

Yep. Afraid so. Not ideal, admittedly, but not a massive deal-breaker in the scheme of things. I'm more disappointed that the New 3DS is no bigger than the old 3DS. Really thought it would be bigger.

It is bigger, both in screen size and in actual console dimensions too. It's not greatly bigger but it's definately not the same size as the OG.

The difference is still infinitesimal though. I know that as I actually compared my niece's OG model alongside it.

I was led to believe that it was a nice halfway between the OG and the XL. It isn't - it's still very close to the OG.

I'm way too used to my XL to contemplate going back to a smaller model.

Mine was only 21 pounds from fed ex om my XL, did they mark at full price then.
