Hardcore Gaming 101: Sega Arcade Classics Vol. 1
A while ago we published the Guide to Classic Graphics Adventures. Our next project is a book on classic Sega arcade games. Taking on feedback from last time, it's available in full colour.
The covered game series include:
After Burner
Golden Axe
Space Harrier
Shinobi
OutRun
Fantasy Zone
Alex Kidd
Altered Beast
Gain Ground
Alien Syndrome
Wonder Boy / Monster World
- including an interview with series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa
Galaxy Force
Alien Storm
Crack Down
Dynamite Dux
ESWAT
Thunder Blade
Quartet
Power Drift
Most of the article were originally on the site, but quite a few are new and exclusive to the book, plus the old ones have been tidied up and, in some cases rewritten.
I was managing editor on the book / magazine, so any grammar mistakes still left likely fall to me. We re-read through every article, sometimes 2 or 3 times, designed and redesigned, chopped and changed around, so hopefully it should be pretty slick. For anyone in the magazine business, you'll hopefully notice I nuked pretty much all the widows and orphans, all the split infinitives, and most instances of ZX and Spectrum being on separate lines.
Extensive coverage of the games, including full page comparison tables of all the different versions, for example of Space Harrier.
For those wanting a video preview, our Editor in Chief, Kurt Kalata, goes through it here:
Any thoughts, let us know!
