It's a pretty good ratio... assuming a good size chunk of that 40% aren't men pretending to be female which after many years visiting games shops I'd be very inclined to believe they are.

That's true. But there could also be women pretending to be male to avoid getting hassled online so that may balance out.

Mere 24 hours since the killing of the Leeds teacher and as expected the Daily Mail tries narrowing down the causes, first up Dark Souls

How low will the Mail go for page impressions and advertising revenue eh.
What an insult in to the family of the poor teacher killed.

Of course it was games. It had nothing what so ever to do with the parents that failed to notice their child was a complete sociopath.

Awful story, but I think this is the weakest and laziest media connection between videogames and violence I've ever read: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-28203060

I'm unsure if he's guilty or not, but based on the evidence, I'd be found guilty!

Lewes Crown Court heard police who attended the flat after Aimee-Rose was rushed to hospital on 5 November 2012 found a PlayStation game controller on the sofa opposite the TV.
I'm always getting told up for not tidying up after a gaming session!

Analysis of Sandland's mobile phone internet history showed a website offering tips on how to play Assassin Creed 3 was accessed at 14:20.

The detail of the website, giving step-by-step instructions, meant there would have been little point accessing it unless the game was being played, she added.
I'm always watching YouTube videos to get tips even when I'm not gaming!

"Despite his admission that the television was on that morning, by the time the ambulance crew arrived it had been switched off, thus covering up the fact he had been playing the game on his PlayStation."
I'm always turning the television off after I've finished watching it and I have an emergency to deal with!

The worst thing about this story is that the BBC has already passed sentence - the headline says he killed the baby, but that's just the case the prosecution is putting forward.

im really not liking the tabloid style headlines and reporting the bbc seem to be pushing these days, this guy allegedly lost his temper and killed a baby i don't think games has anything to do with it, neglect and, severe anger issues seem to be main factor here, would they be reporting it as book reading dad, or Tv watching dad? No.

When my daughter was very young she used to cry when I was playing games. I would stop playing the game (even during a really good kill streak on Halo) and go and comfort her, feed her, change her nappy or whatever and when she was all sorted I would put her back to bed and go back to my game. Same thing if I was watching TV or reading a book.

It sounds like this guy's child died either as a result of anger issues he has (no evidence that he has any anger issues at this point) or because of his epilepsy illness. That BBC headline is disgusting.

Little girl was named after a Sonic character too :-(
