    This Generation's Lost Franchises...

Now that most seem to have an eye on the next gen, I got thinking about the things I would've loved to have seen (or seen more of) in this one - both old franchises that never appeared, and promising new ones that appeared briefly then fizzled out.

Onimusha is the big omission for me. The Japanese medieval setting (forget Paris!) made me love that series more than the Resident Evils and DMCs put together, and it was perfectly set up for a fourth entry...what happened to it?

Also, Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. Brilliant first entry in a new franchise with real effort to nail motion controls (the ghost/mirror house is a masterpiece of comic puzzle design in my view). Seen once when Wii was fresh out of the box, reviewed well, then sunk without a trace.

    Anyone else feel cheated...?

They both get called but I did enjoy Enslaved and Singularity. Would have been nice to see what sequels would have offered.

SOS:The Final Escape was a wonderful game that would have made perfect use of the updated hardware of the PS3 or 360.

I remember that a sequel set aboard a cruise liner was in development on the last generation but a natural disaster meant it either got delayed or cancelled. After that, I heared nothing else from the developer or another title fully utilising the concept of surviving a natural disaster.

      Did Irem make SOS?

Raw Danger was the follow up to SOS and it did come out, it was more based on flooding and is good. There was one due out last year but it never happened because of the Tsunami and now Irem are bust.

It would have been awesome to see a proper sequel to Jak and Daxter, one without guns and the GTA style gameplaty. A new Shutokou Battle would have been nice too and where the hell is Persona 5?

Onimusha 4 has been out for ages. I was hoping a fifth installment would have been released for PS3.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Dawn of Dreams has been out for ages. Feels like more of a spin off than a full blown sequel.

Every passing generation... Stunt Race FX. At this rate I'll be adding Burnout to this thread if Criterion don't sort it out

What was good about Dawn of Dreams? I have yet to get stuck into it.

CTN, huge fan of Stunt Race FX here. I still play it now but my cart is a little overclocked to compensate for the low frame rate.

Onimusha 4 is badass. Massive game too. Not many PS2 games are spread over two DVD's.

This might count as the previous generation, but I took Pokemon Pinball DS as a given. Where is it? What happened to Pokemon Pinball? I thought the GB and GBA ones were incredible fun and I'm amazed we haven't seen any newer versions. With Journey Into Dreams on the Wii, I was also hoping Nights would be renewed and we would see more. Sure, Journey wasn't great at all but I thought it showed promise and maybe from there we could have had something better.

Lastly, my vote for 'what happened to you?' goes to Metroid. Yes, we had Metroid games this generation but Prime 3 really just capped off the GC ones and then there was Other M. But where is our DS or 3DS Metroid? Hunters was all we were getting? How about something as ambitious as Prime again? Or a more classic style Metroid?
