    Interesting thread this.

I would certainly say positive as far as myself is concerned.

I only play games when i am "happy" in my life anyway, when i've been through periods of unhappines in the past i just haven't played videogames - i don't use it as an escape from problems or stress etc i like to play games because i enjoy them instead.

I drop out of gaming from time to time and indulge in my other hobby (Fishing) anyway which gets me out in the fresh air haha

Its an expensive hobby, but at the very least you have something to show for the money you spend.

Everyone else i know throw money into things like new cars, drinking, constant trips abroad, pointless home improvement, expensive kit they can never fully appreciate...like a mate, well a colleague, had ?2000 kef speakers and a ?1.5k amp, and had everything pumping through via stereo DPL2X i was so disgusted i never mentioned/sorted it for him.

So many things which appear to be socially acceptable pursuits, but ultimately can surely only result in empty feeling for the common man when the novetly passes, and a lot of the time nothing to show for it all....holidays i suppose are a bad example, but how many trips to the same place does a person need, and not japan, more like the algarve!?

There is an ongoing topic amongst comedians about people rushing to go abroad, only to miss home....always gets a giggle from me

I'd much rather be on holiday in a sunny climate,, than sitting on my ass playing videogames....

The feeling you get when you step of the plane into 30 degree heat, cant be beaten. Its the ultimate de-stresser

I hate the whole airport thing...maybe thats why i think holidaying frequently is overrated, especially for a **** destination.

I wasnt suggesting sitting playing games is better either.

Probably negative for me overall but thats my own fault really games are a good enjoyable past time to kill a few hours but they should never really become anything more than that If you put off doing other thing to play games then you have a slight problem .I also think when your are playing games your brain switches off from life for a few hours which is positive over all if you have had a stressful day .But it also is a double edge sword where you don't think about other things that you should be doing .

Neither, it's just another form of entertainment.

I get that when I step out of my house. Another 30 degree day here in Sydney!...

Wish I could say it's me, but it's not. Ingenious idea though. I'm tempted to do it for other forums I visit now. Some utterly hilarious ones. Bit hit and miss - quoted some of mine, but I'm sure I've posted much more ridiculous stuff.

Embarrassed to say, now that I know we're being adjudicated for post hilarity, I've been very tempted to up my game somewhat. Must resist though. I don't want to become a caricature of myself.

Yep. Recognized a few of yours on there already ...

EDIT: @ Sketcz, saw yours too. Don't caricature yourself or you might turn full circle and come across as sensible.

It seems most of the negative points is about being OCD with collecting.

It could as easily be about Pogs.

I was hoping someone would say they were banned from the local petting zoo for being compelled to jump on the turtles or they can't date a girl unless she can fire twin uzis whilst exploring pyramids.

You lot are a let-down!

I'm partially burnt out on a lot of gaming right now, i buy retro games that I don't play, buy current-day games that I don't complete properly (NSMB U most recently), download games that I play once then delete, and I almost get more enjoyment of 'hunting down' games to buy than playing them. However, there's still some threads of genuine enjoyment somewhere in there.
