Depends on the version...I had it on the Speccy & it was shocking, my mate had the C64 one & it was indeed a gaming gem & the best footy at the time.

        Another vote for Sensible Soccer.

SWOS is still my all time favourite football game. Goal scoring hero come on!

I loved Microprose Soccer as well used to play it on an 80's Amstrad PC. It was also developed by the Sensible Software guys before they became Sensible.

ISS 64!! Had a beat-em-up like combo of running down the wing, putting in a high ball then curling it into your striker's path, pure silky skills when it all came together.

What I'd really like Sega to do is release is a HD version of this football game they once made where instead of controlling a football team you control a young Japanese guy and instead of passing and shooting you have a rudimentary Virtua Fighter 2 system of kicks and punches and instead of trying to score goals you win by finding some sailors or something?

EDIT: Not news at all, the website that linked me there lied. Ignore, I'm an idiot.
We had this news thread before, not Saturn ports but Model 2 arcade ports.

I wouldn't get my hopes up to much about Shenmue HD, I heard awhile back Sega had already done them but didn't know if to release them as they have no plans to do a third one at this point in time.

While it's not widely known, but there is also a lot of bad feeling in Sega of Japan to Yu Suzuki and Shenmue both being blamed at the time for the fall of the Dreamcast. The project itself was regarded as a black hole due to the amount of money it lost and cost Sega.

Yu Suzuki himself was put on gardening leave after Shenmue hence why he barely did anything at Sega after Shenmue II. It's a shame as I would love to see how the story ends but we may have to wait a very long time.

EDIT: Obviously any conversation on it is all wild speculation based on "anonymous sources" but I live in hope we'll at least see it on next-gen XBLA/PSN? I'm not even bothered about 2, or them making a 3, I just want the first one.

                        Odd edit to your post?

Eurogamer as I recall for the Shenmue HD release so it's not a great source that said it would fit with what industry staff have told me.
Sega is ready to release HD updates of cult Dreamcast classics Shenmue and Shenmue 2, according to a new report.

I don't think the game size issue is that big a problem as a lot of Shenmue game assets were repeated across the discs.

You have to remember Pikate, Sega of Japan are still the main player in Sega and Sega of Europe and US, have to do as there told to some degree. Marketing and PR staff love to keep the fans happy as it's their job, they're not going to put out a press release that said "Sega have no plan to ever release Shenmue III" or one that said "Sega of Japan said no". Internal politics is a big problem in large companies and fans rarely have any idea of how big companies like Sega really work.

I wrote the Dreamcast FAQ and am planning a long over due update to it at some point, the fate of Yu Suzuki and Shenmue has been told to me by a few people. If you look at the games he made after Shenmue II release he did next to nothing and any smart person asks, why was that?

emlyn hughes international soccer on the spectrum was great back in the day. Plays like crap now though, bit like virtua striker.

If you had done them and there is money to be made, why on earth wouldn't you release them? especially if you have no plans for the third game.

Get them out and judge the appeal before deciding on 3.

I dont think they have been done for a second.
