      So?

It's nice to mix it up occasionally I find. Same with movies.

Due to their name and the news with Grasshopper recently it's currently a touch tricky to find exactly when Gungho acquired Acquire, but I saw a lecture by Takuma Endo (their president) roughly a year or so back, and they were doing very much what they'd always done - making distinctly Japanese-themed games. They've also had Shinobido 2 and Sumioni out on the Vita, so maybe there's not that much to worry about.

Isn't that part of the "charm" or something :P

Grasshopper aren't that great anyway. They?re another over hyped dev house IMO. Shadows of the Dammed wasn't all that great and neither was Dark Black Knight or whatever it was called. I never really got in to Killer 7 either and Sine Mora didn't do it for me. The only Grasshopper game I have actually really liked is No More Heroes on the Wii. To me Grasshopper are like Treasure. Everyone bangs on about how great they are but I just don't see it. Actually, the only Treasure games I honestly do like are Gunstar Heroes and maybe Silhouette Mirage.

Grasshopper 'style'? I find their edgy/off-the-wall approach rather adolescent, to be honest. When you realize that someone just has to shout 'cocksucker' and you're going to get an upskirt panty shot every fifteen seconds or so, it gets a bit stale. Punk's not dead, my arse.

So you don't see the overall general appeal with such titles as RSG, Ikaruga, Gradius V and both Sin + Punishment games? You might not like them personally, but that doesn't make them an overrated developer.

Killer 7 is probably in my top 5 games of all time, and whilst I don't think the studio's topped it since, they've consistently been unafraid of trying out something a bit different, and I love them for it. Look beyond the crasser points; the videogame industry would be a duller place without them.

But if you don't like them personally, they're so highly praised across the board that you're naturally going to see them as overrated...

This to me is bad news, since at least Grasshopper were making interesting games. I'm sure MMOs have a lot to offer, but they're not for me :/ eh.

Well said, I agree 100%. I also think Killer7 is one of the best video games ever created. It's truly a unique game, there's nothing like it. Without people like Suda, the video game industry would be one step closer to bland, homogeneous pile of unoriginality that everyone is constantly complaining about.

I think both RSG and Ikaruga are way over rated and that's my opinion but you may think they are fantastic and that's your opinion. We all enjoy our own styles of games As for Gradius V, well I've not played that but I have played every other Treasure game including Sin & Punishement on the N64 and while it was great for a N64 it wasn't the ultimate game as some seemed to make it out to be.

I'd say 90% of treasure games have been top notch, all highly critically acclaimed, you couldn't say the same for grasshopper.

I'd take Killer7 or No More Heroes over "critically acclaimed" crap like Assassin's Creed 3 or Fallout 3 any day of the week. Different strokes etc.

But treasure dont make AC3 or Fallout 3, just the above games mentioned, or do we really need to name all the fantastic games treasure has made.

You can list them all you want but it still won't be relevant since Treasure haven't made a new game since 2009.
Do they even exist outside of fanboys wet dreams at night after a heavy Saturn session?
