    Arcade gaming in your area

Thought it would be good to know what arcade games are available in your area! Visited a local bowling alley that had a Sega Zone with plenty of decent games to kill an hour or so. Prob be a good idea to maybe briefly review the ones that people have played and see if they are worth the journey! I will when I get more time.

Bowlplex Bowling Blackburn has from what I can remember:
    Sega Golden Gun
    Afterburner Climax
    Grid
    Outrun 2
    Super Monkey Ball (mini version)
    Ghost Squad
    Virtua Cop 3
Dance Dance Revolution (not sure which)
Sega K.O Drive (using a converted Sonic and Sega all star racing cab)
Time Crisis (I'll have to confirm which version but it is an old one)
Basket ball and air hockey also (sonic branded) which are a load of fun too.

    1st Bowl Accrington has:
Outrun 2 (crt version not rear projection. So much better)
    Mario Kart Arcade GP
    House of the Dead 4

    So what's near you

Great idea! I live in Hornsea on the east coast of Yorkshire. Our town had five arcades, now there's only two, and video games are few and far between. I'll pop down and note the ones that are left. I think they're mainly penny pushers, grabbers and fruit machines now.
Please please, if anyone can add pinball machines I'd be really happy. I think there's a few in Scarborough if anyone can confirm this I'd be interested in going to play.

We also had a Sega world at Hornsea freeport, not sure if it's still there.

Only one near me is the Namco station at the Metrocentre and its crap all toy grabbers and bandits iirc. I think it has a Hotd and a Technika rip off

Only one pinball machine that I know of in my area and it's in a pub with a picture of a guy driving a digger on the side. Have no idea what it's called mind but played a few games. Pinball is sadly died even more than arcade games.

If it has two plastic heads with builder's hats, it may be red and teds roadshow.

Hey grain-flavour! We did a similar thread on arcades here.

I took a load of snaps in Weston-Super-Mare a year-or-so back and dataDave took some of arcades he's found.

I never see any arcades except by the seaside.

I had a dream last night that a service station I was at had an F-Zero AX cab.

We have a few down Southend Seafront but most are now just full of chavs & switched over to fruities long gone are the heady days of a million cabs lined up with umpteen one on one fighters, some shooters, platformers & scrolling fighters

Most have some form of Initial D / Max tune / Mario Kart driver though & plenty of gun games like Time Crisis or Aliens so it's not all bad news but I still don't go very often these days.

I find the real problem with UK arcades is the atmosphere. I just feel kind of uncomfortable in them. I went to Casino on TCR (which I believe is closing soon/has closed) a couple of times recently to play Darius Burst and some other random stuff in the basement, and there's just something about the whole experience that makes me really self-conscious. Not so in arcades in Japan, Taiwan or anywhere else for that matter.

We just don't have the arcade culture here sadly, and it's never coming back

I should really check the arcades at our local sea front.

Yes, I haven't been to that. Metroland used to have loads. Only other places I can think of with arcades are South Shields, etc at the coast.

Similar with me and the NAMCO arcade at the Trafford Centre.

I'll check out that other thread QualityChimp cheers. I thought there would be loads more arcade machines knocking around, especially when I've only been to two places recently and they had a few good games worth playing. Grid in particular is really good fun with the force feedback, noise and flashing lights...it's just something that can't be successfully replicated at home.

Noticed an F-Zero arcade cab on ebay with the location being Lancashire......need to find it to have a bash on it!

                              No probs!

Last arcade game that knocked my socks off was TANK! TANK! TANK!

I took a few snaps in the other thread, but I doubt the Wii-U version can replicate the force-feedback controller, portrait screen and sheer volume of the cab!
