Anyway, you can add Toki to Towa (Time and Eternity in the west, upcoming) to the list.
Oh of course - but naturally the point at which ARPG becomes an action game with some RPG elements isn't the easiest thing to work out definitively. I thought I'd err on the side of too many titles rather than too few, at first.

      Available in English:
      Yakuza 3
      Yakuza 4
      Yakuza: Dead Souls

      NOT:
      Yakuza 1&2
      Yakuza 5
Yakuza: KENZAN! (Ryu ga Gotoku: KENZAN!)
Super Robot Taisen Original Generation Episode 2
      ToX2

Although ToX is coming out this year sometime in English.

I updated the list in the first post; seems we have a pretty comprehensive list there.

It also reminded me of Eternal Sonata, which was a huge disappointment for me. The idea behind it (for those who don't know, an RPG drawn from the music of the composer Chopin) seemed fascinating, but in the end it seemed quite a generic JRPG with some Chopin-inspired music.

          Couple of updates to this.

Firstly, I bought Hyperdimension Neptunia - and it's trash! Seriously terrible; one of the poorest games I've played in years, and often anime art-styles buy a lot of favour from me. The game is just so plodding and formulaic.

Also, Toki Towa (that very anime-looking JRPG) has been voted one of the worst games of 2012 in Japan:

I think it's safe to assume that popular opinion rankings are viewed by most people as just that: Popular opinions, not holy writ carved into stone. That's partly why I enjoy when people reflect on the year past and rank their favorite and least favorite entertainment.

Evidently the looks in trailers is all it has going for it?

Need to get rid of Neptunia and try something else.

Added The Witch and the 100 Knights, which I've just become aware of.

Check out the latest and greatest from NIS America all in one place! Find your new favorite game, along with the most recent updates.

So, Hyperdimension Neptunia was a bit crap. What do people think of Mugen Souls and Trinity Universe? I've heard that Mugen Souls was censored for the western release; what was the deelio with that?

Well, I had kinda expected this thread to go on a bit farther; thought someone might race in to defend Hyperdimension Neptunia at least, given that it seems to have a fanatical following despite my dislike of it.

Not sure where you've come across a fanatical fanbase for Neptunia, but I am guessing they are 'in it for the moe' (potentially the best/worst thing I have ever typed) rather than those looking to relive the golden ages of the 16 and 32 bit eras. I've not played it myself so I could be off the mark, but I've been (similarly to Sketcz) warned off anything by Idea Factory (****).

I'm looking forwards to Xillia in August but that's about it.

Neptunia is wank, I have all 3. Mugen souls was cut due to a really dodgy cutscene the sequel is worse still

Worse as in 'more dodgy' or worse as in 'more cut'? I had a look online at what was removed; I'm kinda not surprised they removed what they did, given western sensibilities.

Worse as in it was starting to cross in to a borderline hentai game

                      its NSFW

It's only J exclusive on PS3, there's an English release on 360 so it doesn't really count as an exclusive.

                              Fair point.

ToGf isn't exactly ToG, but don't ask me what the differences are.

There is a fairly huge third story arc set after the main game, but further than that I couldn't tell you many of the differences.
