Outlast: new survival horror game by indy dev: Red Barrels - Unreal Engine

So, it looks like my faith in the survival horror genre might be restored!

Red Barrels an indy dev are in the middle of making a game called Outlast, think Silent Hill meets Project Zero meets Siren and your quite close to what this game will be like.

"In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line being science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive."

Dev blurb: Founded in Montreal by industry veterans from some of the biggest game franchises in history, including Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Uncharted, Red Barrels is an independent game studio focused on creating unforgettable single-player games. Outlast is their first title, a true survival- horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind. Outlast will be coming to PC digital download this Summer.

Going to only be for PC via Steam for now but they have hopes that it could come out for console release with funds.

Looks great, but a bit too actiony(Tm) for a Survival horror. Although perhaps that's just the trailer and the gameplay is different.

Looks like Condemned meets Shutter Island.

Nicely put together trailer I thought, though obviously not ingame. Not liking the monster design though far too generic.

          Condemned meets Mirrors Edge?

          Lovely trailer.

Will keep an eye on this.

I do believe the devs say it was in-game, just more scripted to give a strong example of what the final product will be like.

It looks nice. I will be interested to see how they are going to pull something like this off without the whole game being pre scripted though.

Yeah sounds about right. The graphics were in engine but there is no way a game would move like that.
