New Etrian Odyssey: Millenium Girl [was:Etrian Odyssey V: The Lady of Mieniam]

I don't know if to be happy or devastate: there will be a fifth Etrian Odyssey out in Japan on June 27.
EOIV was directed by Daisuke Kanada, of Trauma Center fame. EOV is under the wing of Shigeo Komori, who previously directed EOIII.
EOIV was released on July 2012 in Japan, so barely a year between the two titles.
The dungeoneering continues (and I hope it won't get milked too much).

Is there any news of a PAL release for IV? I want to try IV as my first EO title but it doesn't look like it's coming out over here and they've already announced a sequel.

It is coming out in EU-land this spring, published by Nintendo, IIRC.

New details have emerged, along with a new title, "New Etrian Odyssey: Millenium Girl".
It will be a remake of the first DS game, with a stronger focus on story and characters and few things taken from the second game
The system will be completely revamped, the party will be fixed (boooo!!!!!), but classes won't, and it will be possible to change assigned jobs to modify party dynamics. Apparently there will be an unnamed male protagonist, a female gunner and two other male aadventurers, an alchemist and a medic.
So, they are going to redo EO1 but they won't bring the first female medic portrait into the game. Insta-fail.

Now I'm kinda scared of this New Etrian Odyssey...one of the best points in all EO games was that the story (how much feeble it could have been, especially in the first two games) was kept to a minimum, with well written boxes and the focus being on dungeoneering/exploration. The fixed party sounds bad (I want an all female party! It was like that from the first EO and it will always be!), but let's hope that the team won't go full-JRPG on this one. Fingers crossed.

Interest in the game went up again tahnks to the new infos available from Famitsu: it will be possible to tackle the game in sotry mode, with preset characters, or venture the Yggdrasil labyrinth with a custom party, like other games in the series. Still no information on the total number of classes available or their skill, but so far there are Landsketches, Medics, Alchemists, and Gunners.

It will be possible to chose between FM tune and fully orchestrated soundtrack, and between three difficulty levels, with the hardest (Expert mode) probably as tough as the first EO, with the other as difficult as what seen in EOIII/IV.

Also, it will possible to use Grimoire stones to give classes certain skills from other classes, so probably there won't be subclasses in this.

            Out June 27th in Japan.

Didn't really want to bump an old thread, but thought I might as well rather than start a new one. Downloaded the eu demo of this last night, started when it was light didn't realise it was completely dark outside by the time I was finished, loved every second. As this is a remake of the first game in the series should I start with this one? Or are there some worthwhile additions in number 4, that would make it the better purchase?

As usual, I have a play thread for EOU...if you've played EO since the first, Untold is on the redundant side: updated graphics, rebalanced classes, the new story mode, some floors have been redesigned, but it's the first EO, skipping over many improvements made in the third and fourth game. If you haven't played the first, it's an excellent starting point: just don't start with III or IV, as Untold might feel unrefined in comparison.

Was surprised to see that this was ?35 on the UK eShop. Isn't it something of a redux? Not sure why, but for some reason I expected this to be a ?20 title.
