    Disney closes Lucasarts

An old favourite now gone - http://kotaku.com/disney-shuts-down-lucasarts-468473749

They had such a rich history and produced some excellent classics. Sorry if this is old news, the search thing wouldn't work for me.

Because Star Wars is what it's all about. Cretins.

I can't say I agree the odd gem here and there but they leaned heavily on the Star Wars brand and haven't put out anything decent for years.
Always a shame to hear about developers losing their jobs. Hopefully they find work elsewhere.

Cannot imagine how hard Disney will flog the Star Wars brand though.

Still new news for me! That sucks, where is the next generation Rogue Squadron game going to come from?

I am sure another studio will spring up from somewhere eventually, in the long run it might not be a bad thing. However we are probably not going to see any (decent) Starwars games now for possibly another generation. Certainly 3 or 4 years at least now. Ah well.....

Kinect Star Wars, enough said, when all the real fans wanted was a Battlefront on current consoles and PC.

When I first read the news I was "huh", then "late April's Fool?", then other websites confirmed it.
Oh well, I hadn't played any Star Wars game since Tie Fighter, but, really, Disney was kinda extreme with this decision.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

Oh Disney you still don't understand games in any form, it's like pissing on history from a great height, this is akin to burning ever copy of the classic Disney feature films.

License it to Factor 5 and then go Multi format....

In recent years, perhaps. It's just sad to see another developer with a rich history being flushed down the toilet for $$$, when Disney could've done more with the IP that Lucasarts has instead of churning out what will no doubt be an endless barrage of outsourced Star Wars games.

This makes everything okay then. I can live with that, would love to see what would be possible next gen for the Death Star run.

When was the last decent Star Wars game? Star Wars: Republic Commando? 05.

That would be nice, except Factor 5 closed a while back so they won't be handling it.
There will be more Star Wars games just Disney have decided lucasarts won't be the ones making them.
So Star Wars 1313 is a goner then.

Monkey Island is the one I'm worried about.
