Paid and Downloading now, hopefully will be a justified purchase! I loved Rage to bits, are there any of that team working on this game?

Probably not many as RAGE was by id and this is the former Riddick guys from Sweden.

Edit: Both teams are owned by Zenimax Media so I guess it's possible that MachineGames might have gotten help from id as they use their engine.

Some things are quite like Rage. There are also some exploration levels that pan out exactly the same. But I wish this game had the gunplay, sounds and animations of Rage. I think Rage had the best FPS gameplay in the business. For me it was perfect. There wasn't enough of it though and the game ended with a whimper.

Agree, Rage had some wicked sections, felt like a proper old skool FPS with up to date graphics.

Best gameplay in the business? Has Halo CE not come out yet then? Or Half life 2?

It's like 1995 all over again with these identikit fps. Yay brown.

Nah, HL2 had rather ****ty gunplay. Enemies would stand still and guns just felt weak, grav gun was revolutionary at the time but way overused right away. I love the series a lot, but not exactly for the gameplay or shooting. Was HL2 that special anyway? Half of the game is spent in terrible controlling vehicles, still loved it a lot... weird.

Halo had amazing AI, but I never really liked the guns in that game. I prefer real life kind of weapons.

I just think Rage plays better than both. And any FPS released since. What game had a better shotgun? But sadly that excellent gameplay was inserted into one lacklustre FPS. I wouldn't claim Rage is the better game than those 2.

Proper brown didn't come along until 1997 with Quake 2. Loved that game to death back in the day.

FPS games have been gray & brown since the beginning.

True but there's quite a bit of grey in Doom. Quake 2 was the king of brown

Yep, lovely to switch on the SNES this week and be playing a game within ten seconds, no boot time, patches or updates.
Thank the Lord for technology eh.

Really enjoying this - its a bit of painkiller & killzone wrapped into one. Manic shooting, nice graphics, responsive controls. Nice

If your you are looking for a cerebral shooter stay clear.

Not sure what all the AI moaning is about; play on the higher levels and you can die very quickly

Spot on though there are some iffy AI moments (they are that's the case in a hell of a lot of games, not just FPS) . This game is nuts (the set pieces are ace( and just a blast to play , also for once the script is quite good and genuinely funny. Just a manic old school shooters with todays graphics and controls - Machinegames have nailed it .

I play on Death Incarnate and its still one hell of a stupid AI. The sole thing difficulty seems to do is increasing the damage they do.

Their aim is good, which makes the game hard when being overwhelmed, but their behaviour leaves something to be desired. Especially the melee guys are dumb. And you can deal with groups by simply camping at a bottleneck, they will eventually run towards you anyway. Stealth killing enemies is very easy too, at times they don't even bother.
