Anyone getting R: Racing Revolution this coming week?

Just curious. Normally I would pre-order a game like this caues I love the ridge series. But after all the bad press and the demo I played at Tokyo Game Show I think I will wait to see what they say on gamefaqs before I purchase this game. It really does just play like a Gran Turismo clone and not the arcade fun I crave.

Want it but i'm banned by the the mrs from buying another game for at least a year .
I managed to play it alittle at the TGS but i'd like to see what other people think first before sneaking off to buy it

Under the thumb hey . That aside if Namco think that this game is going to set the gaming world on fire they better start planning Ridge7. Because while this game will retain the core ridge fan sales like myself It wont appeal to the mainstream gamer. Why anyone would choose this over Gran Turismo is beyond me.

Is this still coming with Pacman for the GC version? I'll buy it just for that tbh.

          I'll be getting it because

          a) It comes with Pac Man Vs.
          b) Namco can be trusted to make decent racing games.

The critics made Namco kill off the Ridge Racer series. Now lets see if we have any extra reason to hate the likes of Edge, or whether Namco can create a "serious" racer worthy of the Ridge Racer heritage.

I'll probably grab the XB version myself. Unless the music is up to the standard of Ridge5, I wanna stick my own soundtracks on (which I hope NAMCO have decided to support). Probably gonna be the best looking of the three too if it's the same situation as Soul Calibur 2.

this may be the last game i buy this year.
definately going for the gamecube version....the pacman thing doesnt mean anything to me though, as i doubt i'll ever get to use it anyway.
i've heard its not very ridge racery, but that its still good...guess i'll find out for myself soon.

It always amuses me when people say this. As if Edge and a few other critics hold that much sway in the industry.

By and large, RRV was very favourably received. Namco's decision for changing the roots of series were entirely their own. I'm guessing it may have more to do with the humungous sales of the GT series than anything else.

Back on topic, I might get this just for Pacman. And then I'll probably flog the main game.

Does it come in the case or separately with RRR? Either way if reviews are good, I'll get my gf to buy it for me and bring it over...

I've had this on order for while, just for the Pacman disk (it'll probably come in a little cardboard wallet like the Japanese demo disks).

I don't hold out much hope for RRR, but then I am a fan of the Ridge Racer games, so I'd have caved in and bought it eventually anyway.

Lets hope we're all pleasantly surprised by RRR.

Yes, the PS2 version as soon YesAsia lists it. Will be interesting to see how the new AI System works and the In-game communications allowing trash talk from rival drivers and crewmembers.

There is also a Lancer Evo 8 in there that I?m looking forward to try.

Off-topic played Initial D today, still loves it, didn?t beat your Akagi time Fuddle but I was damn close. (2?21?651) ? more tuning to come.

EDIT saw that there will be a Official Time Attack Ranking online soon.

Well I'm looking forward to seeing the reviews/impressions.

I've never played the RR series, and a GT style game on the GC is welcome IMO. I hope it turns out good.

Ive been interested in it for a while, but I think I might until theres a few for sale on this forum until I buy it. Anyone know any reviews online we can read in the meantime?
