AHRC videogames research funding, deadline August 1st

Just got this in my inbox:

    __________

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) are pleased to announce a call for collaborative research projects with a particular focus on videogames, under a programme of Research Networking.

The AHRC Videogames Research Networking call is intended to bring together arts and humanities researchers, researchers from other disciplines, videogames developers and other parties whose interests complement the call to explore ideas and maximise opportunities for bringing new insights, creativity and knowledge to the video games industry to deliver mutual benefits.

Full details of the call and how to apply can be found on the link below:
    http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/Funding-Opportunities/Pages/AHRC-Videogames-Research-Networking-Funding-Call.aspx

Seems this is open to all kinds of 'creatives' and game journos as well, rather than the usual academic types who write about games but don't play and know **** all about them. That's why I plonked it here.

Love to be involved somehow. Got any ideas Golgo?

I'd like an investigation into the total lack of anything even resembling proper AI in videogames.

Just read the blurb and it's so broad you could propose anything, I guess. Key thing is 'networks' between all sorts of people ('stakeholders') and the underlying agenda of leading to economic 'impact', which is bottom line of all research council sponsored (i.e. government-sponsored) stuff now.

I like the AI idea, by the way. But I'd like to see research into what I call RS or 'Real Stupidity', which I think would make games more real.

                      Bump.

A colleague and I have been nibbling around this funding call, so...would anyone who has had any creative or research experience in the subject of videogame scriptwriting/narrative, whether as developer, journalist or academic, please PM me?

                      Thanks.
