Great games that came out whilst a next-gen console was waving it's bits about?

As the next-gen approaches like a train with no brakes and people flail about screaming like Beatles fans from the 60's for those uber consoles and their games, I wondered what awesome games have cooly slunk out whilst a new console has come out flexing it's muscles in the foreground?

The later the in an old console's life, the better.

Off the top of my head I'd say Resi 3 - think that was around the PS2 launch. I recall seeing loads of next gen stuff by that stage but being totally amazed by how much Capcom were still getting out of the PS1.

ISS 2 was right on the PS2 launch also I think?

Ikaruga, Under Defeat, BorderDown all came after Sega ceased to produce the Dreamcast, and they are official games.

God of War 2 for sure, Okami also came out in the west at least in late 2006. Super Mario World 2 is another.

I remember Donkey Kong Country was being shown at e3 while the PS1 and Saturn were coming out.

Although I never played it there was Final Fantasy 9 on PS1 in the early days of the Dreamcast.

Yeah Super Mario World 2 is also a good example, infact there was a lot of SNES game and there needed to be for people that were waiting for the N64.

I was playing that with my mates while we were sat at home waiting for my dad to come in with my mates SFC he'd picked up for him from an import shop near where my dad worked at Wood Green
