    The Order: 1886

After its intial cutscene reveal at E3, Ready at Dawn has stated that the PS4 exclusive will be a linear third person action title with shooting elements. Whilst that and their aim for it to be another cinematic experience might sound all too familiar we're promised that the gameplay isn't quite what we're expecting.

Either way I really liked what Ready at Dawn delivered with the PSP God of War games so am keen to see how this pan out.

Apparently (if NeoGaf is to be trusted) the game runs at 1920x800, which means black borders. Borderdown may have been a better name for the site than we first realised for next gen

Stealing this from GAF but it made me laugh.

Apparently The Evil Within is also in this aspect ratio, good ole Mikami at work there.

Don't know if I like it.
Guy talks about not being able to see the characters feet or what he's walking on and having to physically look down, makes things more tense for a horror atmosphere.

Probably stop noticing when playing but in priciple it shouldn't have borders, I didn't buy a widescreen TV to keep the damn things

              Lmao Family Fry...

This is looking good... I'm sending some online coop multiplayer thing going in here... (Not read the text, just saw the video, so could be stating the obvious). Very atmospheric indeed...

It wasn't any moment in particular that inspired PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886; it was the feeling Ready at D…

PS4 game in 30fps with borders shocker!!!!

or the less red tab headline quote

The entire game—cutscene and gameplay—is framed in a 2.40:1 animorphic aspect ratio (so it looks like a widescreen movie). It runs at 30 frames per second because that delivers a look they like. And they're taking cues from what other developers have done in order to build the experience they want to give players.
The Order: 1886 does what it wants. Zeppelins, elevated trains and automatic rifles? It might not fit the history it's based on, but hey, why not? Toss them in. Developers Ready at Dawn are telling a story about men and women fighting half-bred monster people that never existed in their own vision of 19th century…

Yes the aspect ratio was mentioned last summer, hence the jovial posts if you scroll up.

yeah i know but low frame rate combined with borders makes for a cool headline, its like we have gone back to the days of the pal super Nintendo

Reminds me of an article I was reading last night about TV show Walking Dead on how it's filmed on different width reels to the norm nowadays to give the grainy effect etc.
