Microsoft no longer charging developers for resubmitting title updates

    Source: Eurogamer

$40 000 was indeed a bit steep for some developers. Let's hope this means some games, that wouldn't otherwise be further patched, will get some of their bugs and glitches ironed out.

I hope they stick with this policy for the upcoming Xbox One. The poor thing could certainly use some positive buzz about it...

That'll be in response to cd projekt maybe. Self publishing next? Come on MS!

It would be nice if Polytron did pop out that final patch they said they had sorted but couldn't come to MS with an agreement, highly doubt it. Infact I'm waiting for some twitter angst from Mr Fish about how this is 'too much, too late' or whatever.
This is across all games I believe retail and download, can only hope it's a decision they have made to progress onto the Xbone, they only need to have some self publishing model and inides will be a bit more happier.

This has prevented quite a few titles from getting patched, including Silent Hill HD Collection (which was patched on PS3 but not 360). The developers essentially have to convince the publishers to pay for the patch, which isn't necessarily feasible even for a bigger title.

This only solves part of the problem for Polytron though. Fez 2 will not be coming out for the XBox One because they can't self-publish the game, and the same goes for Day Z. And there is also now news regarding if this will even apply to the XBox One.

Self publish issue applies to the oddworld guys too.

Forget about Polytron. Apparently, this was Phil Fish's reaction through Twitter:

"so forgive me if im not too excited at the prospect of working with MS again even if it's just for one patch.''

Ah the twitter rage I pretty much expected.
