Some people listened to Ryan every week for a long long time. It's only natural that people become attached even if you don't know the person personally. I'm sure people who listened or followed Thatcher for that amount of time felt the same. On another note any kind of death before a persons time is not nice, personal or not.

People care about different things, video game related or not. I couldn't really cure less about Royal Weddings, Jubilee's etc but its obvious hundreds of other people do. No real point to insult people for no reason.

Truly sad news. Giant Bomb is pretty much the only site I go to for games coverage, and these guys put so much of their personality into what they do that you cant help but feel as if you know them a bit if you visit regularly. In fact that's the whole point of the website. The fact is like some others on this forum I'm sure I've listened to the man talk about anything and everything for upwards of 4 hours a week for years, that's more than I hear from some of my friends and if I'm honest, news of Ryan's death has affected me. I'm not bawling in the corner or anything, but it's made me take a good look at myself and my life choices health wise to see how profoundly his early death has effected all the people in his life through my twitter feed. He was part of a new breed of internet celebrity that if your a fan is much more ingrained into your daily lives than in other media. And he will be very missed.

This has stunned me. Loved him on the Giant Bomb podcasts. So young too. A sad loss.

A really touching and funny podcast.

It does feel like they've had the wind knocked out of them, hopefully they'll all find their groove after Ryan.

Thank you for this, possibly the most respectful post in this thread by far.

I honestly will miss Ryan. Like many others, while I didn't know him personally, he had such an amazing output on pretty much anything, and would not hold any punches if he saw something terrible (although that wasn't very often), and I loved his enthusiasm.

Hell, I still remember when he saw that preview for de Blob 2, and he seemed pretty concerned about it being hard to play for anyone who is colorblind, I think that may have threw off the guy who was demoing the game at that time.

The man will live on in memory for many many years. Thank you so much for everything you've done.
