Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus PS3 Insomniac Games

    Yesterday on Playstation's facebook page.

    Today, Insomniac games were quoted.

    ALSO

July 11th has now been confirmed as the reveal.
Insomniac Games may be behind the development or possibly helping if it's R&C.

    A little background about Nexus.
Ratchet & Clank: Nexus was a cancelled PS2 project that later became Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

And, finally an entire R&C game concept that never materialized: Ratchet & Clank: NEXUS. Following Up Your Arsenal, we entertained the idea of putting our heroes on a singular planet. The design revolved around a global conflict between two alien races and we thought it could be interesting if Ratchet and Clank had differing ideas about the war. Eventually the project changed direction to become Ratchet: Deadlocked, although the idea of one planet stayed with us and reemerged in A4O.

Yep, that's just what I need at the moment going on the past couple of years, another game from Insomniac.

It's almost like they've intentionally used a picture with a Jak & Daxter wallpaper to remind us what a good developer can do with third person games and to prepare us for how disappointed we'll likely be when they release it.

So it'll be a PSN game with crossbuy where the Vita version is delayed for ages and then turns out to be a shadow of the PS3 game.

      Oh wait, that was Q-Force.

I love R&C but the last 2 games have been hideously underwhelming.

I wasn't sold on the fmv trailer for their XBO game and after Q Force and Fuse I'm wondering if they've lost it so fast after Resistance 3. With a Ratchet film on the way they need to focus on one stellar project and that should be a tie in game.

A "proper" R&C game with multiple planets, crazy weapons, funny gags and stunning graphics.

FOr a developer who prides themselves on their weapon design, Fuse was beyond dull. It really missed that tongue-in-cheek comedic element.

It's difficult because I used to love the PS2 games but I just haven't enjoyed the PS3 versions in the same way. I don't know if it's because they aren't as good or because I just expect something more from that type of game now.

The PS3 versions weren't terrible for me but the Resistance games and what I saw and read of Fuse and their next gen game just seem to lack and real life, they feel empty in someways almost as if they're painting by numbers. I can't really explain what it is but they sort of feel soulless in a way.

Nothing to say this won't be enjoyable but I just don't feel confident that it will be.

One of the concerns I have is that like the last couple of games it sounds like they're wanting to move away from the more traditional games which of course could be a good or bad thing.

Tools of Destruction & Crack in Time were both excellent.

It really is since the move to multiplatform that standards have dropped.

Changed my mind, this has potential.

Hands on video preview on IGN. Shows a couple of new areas and it's starting to sound really promising.

This has made me want to play the older games again.
                • Future games in the franchise will move towards a "spookier" theme, this one starts that.
                • Won't be a full price game.
                • Available on blu-ray and PSN.
                • Will only get a Vita version if they can maintain the quality of the PS3 version.
                • Taken back to the better games in the way it plays.

Does look nice, will likely skip it though as the Xmas release window means my PS3 will be gone by then

Five minutes of gameplay, it's looking really promising.

It looks like R&C rather than a tower defence or fixed perspective co-op game.

That alone makes a huge difference!
