I can't imagine it's going to be worse than the Pico 4, which is currently my goto PC VR headset.

Decisions, my index is getting a bit long in the tooth (and its bulky) I`m still toying with the Bigscreen unit as that will work with my controllers etc.
I take it the Pico is easier to sideload onto? Whats the account requirements?

I dunno about sideloading as I've not had a need to (you can do it tho) - I just use it as wireless headset over Virtual Desktop to the PC. I think I set up a Pico account when I first turned it on - I assume you need it for the store.

They have been very cagey about letting us know much about the headset spec, Their quoting it's twice as powerful, as the quest 2 but i doubt the games will look that much better as their having to split the bump between the output resolution, refresh rate and a visuals bump. the £500 price tag takes it out of the impulse Crimbo hype purchase territory and puts it up against things like an Xbox and PS5, It's £200 more than the original price of the last headset the £300 price point is what it sold like hot cakes at.

It seems that's not what they're aiming for with the Quest 3 - it's not entry-level by the sounds of things (the Quest 2 will still be on sale simultaneously). There are reports that there will be a "Quest 3 Lite" sometime in 2024: https://www.roadtovr.com/meta-quest-...-release-2024/

i suppose its all down to if you think the slight bump to visuals, resolution and comfort is worth the extra £200/£100, if the The quest three lite is a thing it not a great strategy having so many SKU's on shelves at the same time its never a great recipe for success especially when their all so close to each other, it confuses the casual market and acts as a barrier to purchase.

its the old xbox problem one, x, s, sx ect

"Can i have a Quest Vr headset please"

"would you like the quest 2, quest pro, quest 3 or Quest 3 lite ???"

                  Eh? Just a Quest please

Hopefully the Quest 3 Lite nails the right balance of performance to cost for PCVR. I could be swayed by another headset but I'm very much now in the mindset that the next one would be the last one as its a big expense for a largely resolution boost for the same range of titles. Kind of just need one headset that covers the bases in enough areas.

I honestly think that Meta should abandon the truly casual market at this point. They should market the Quest similarly to Playstation; not "the console for everyone", it's "the console for people who like videogames".

It's like Goldilocks and the three bears,

One day PC master race bear, Console gamer bear, and Filthy casual bear left their VR headsets on and went for a walk to the shop to get Filthy casual bear some PRIME, along comes Goldilocks and looks at the three headsets.

First she tries PC master race bears headset (the pro) "This ones far too expensive and complicated she exclaims"
Then she try's Console gamer bears headset (quest 3) This ones also too expensive but a lot less complicated,
Finally she try's Filthy casual bear headset and exclaims this one is just right.

The bears come back and phone the police and Goldilocks is arrested for filming videos in other peoples houses, which she insist was all just a prank and she was never gonna keep that dog anyway.

this is really ****ing weird, the presentation style is like a 90s infomercial for some sort of weird kitchen gadget, bad dubbing, over use of buzz words and really dull features (didn’t samsung do that bump to share thing in 2010) no sign of the much rumoured vr either, when their bigging up features like multiple timers and the health app on ipad and screen savers on mac you know their really scrapping the barrel.
