BioShock is one of the games that actually works pretty well with VorpX, so you can already do this.

It's been one of the biggest post-Alyx issues, the lack of a a meaty SP VR title once you've played something like that. RE4 looks great but as it was effectively remade and bankrolled by Facebook I've not set my expectations on more.

Skyrim VR can be this, if you want. The only problem is that it involves the player being on their feet for many hours at a time. Kinda has the same problem of why you might not want to go on a hiking holiday.

My best VR experiences have all been the ones where the only VR kit you need is the headset, e.g. Wipeout, Driving games and flight sims. You can play for hours, sat down! Although Farpoint in PSVR was awesome too, but as you say it requires standing up and moving about a lot and a lot of people only want to do that for short bursts.

My legs are sore from playing too much RE4 in VR. But for most games, I much prefer the immersion that standing up and moving around brings me.

Yep, I used to get a bit achey after an hour of Alyx, I imagine Skyrim wrecks the limbs

"Metaverse" is worse than I expected - utter cringe presentation. If you could ripoff Ready Player One any more, you'd be sued by Ernest Cline.

I hope there is a product announcement, because this is rating at about a 2/10 at the moment.

They should have had an actor play Zuckerberg rather than this bad CGI puppet.

Meh meh meh - keynotes gets 3/10 in the end - it gains an extra point for the ECG control stuff, but that's about it. Nothing else in it I was even remotely interested in - perhaps if the presentation wasn't so specious it would have been better - but that stuff was so far out it was almost irrelevant.

The Connect with Carmack is usually worth a watch, so will give that a whirl later (10PM UK time).

But in a shocking twist, FB are removing the Facebook account requirement.

Are they? I must have missed that. It did say that as part of rebrand to Meta (ala Alphabet) there was mention of not needing a Facebook account - I just assumed you'd need a Meta account instead.

Yeah, I interpreted that the same way.

Yeah don’t rejoice. As long as Facebook hold onto the software needed to use an oculus they can make you sign into anything they want whenever they want. As can all the other vendors of course but Facebook are the most abhorrent.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas VR though... I might wait to play that one in the new trilogy if this rears its head soon

It sounded like that was quite a way off - pretty much everything in the key note was quite a way off.
