Darumeshi sports shop, new 3DS E-shop game

Stumbled across this on the Japanese e-shop & it's rather fab. Simply put it's a selection of minigames all based around baseball. You come across an old sports shop run by an aging baseball mad owner who happens to be a dog, he is called Inuji and you'll be seeing a lot of him. The game is played via your mii, Inuji introduces you to one of his 10 kids as a helper & a gives you copy of the Hontendo 4DS a device which one ups the 3DS by allowing you to physically go inside your tv to play baseball to your hearts content as in the real world there are hassles like not enough space to play properly or doing your neighbours windows in. The game carts are sold by Inuji & there are 10 in total these carts are the minigames & all involve baseball of some sort weither hitting or catching. What makes the game charming is the illustrations of the interface as lots of old Nintendo history has been crammed in like the fact the games are made to look like famicom games & have that old 70's Nintendo retro illustration look.

Also your pitching pal is a living version of the ultra machine, a toy they produced back in the 70's/80's. Well it's actually this... hehe

Now the downside each cart has to be bought & they cost 400 yen each which is a bit pricy however not all is as it seems as while you are playing & getting gold & silver medals for completing the minigames that you have bought you can unlock coupons & items from the stamp rally card. These coupons can be used with Inuji to discount the remaining carts you haven't bought yet making them actually cheaper to buy with real money, as you play you'll also get other items to use. Some of them can be used in a game with Inuji to try & haggle to get a discount on the carts too. So far i have managed to get him to knock off 100 yen off a cart but im wondering if you can make him go even lower hehe.

So far im really enjoying it & there's a lot of content in each cart you buy, plus full of Nintendo history & retro charm. Heres a youtube vid of some of the action

That looks like a neat little game. Quite jealous of the amount of stuff on the Japanese eshop.

Been playing this quite a lot over the weekend, now have bought all 10 games for it. The haggling system is rather fun if you really wanted you could just shell out 400 yen for each game but where is the fun in that? Instead giving him a boiled egg to start negotiations & then you have to talk to him & pick the correct answer to boost his mood or give him one of the items that you have won from getting to a marker point on the stamp card. If you do it correctly you can get the price from 400 yen right down to 100 hehe, however if you fail you have to try again luckily any price reduction he gave you is still active but you get another attempt to get it lower but you have to give another egg to start the negotiations again. The cupons are also won from getting to certain marks on the stamp card certain games can't be haggled on instead you have to use the cupons, you can use only 3 against each game. Some have money off & some have a % off, using them you can get that price down low low low This is the first game i have ever played where you can haggle on how much you are going to pay for DLC, it's a good system compared to just giving a set price, getting a bargain does feel good.

The games themselves are a varied bunch, well they all revolve around baseball but still some nice variation, there's 6 stages per game plus 5 difficulty levels per stage, clear all of them & you get to try the second page with 30 more challenges on it. Each game has this same system so theres a lot of content for each game. Some games use the gyro sensor rather well to play.

Now trying to unlock the cool uniforms by completing all the challenges. A nice touch from the bat making minigame is you can use the bat that you made in any of the other games. Depending on how well you made it the results can wildly vary when hitting.

Being able to haggle over the cost of DLC is genius.

I've been playing this tonight. I've only got the first game, which is free, but it's pretty awesome so far. I might go for the other games.
          Kept you waiting, huh?
