Best Vita Games (good enough to put on a list)

Given the recent surge in popularity I thought it'd be good to jot down our favourite Vita games so newcomers can get an idea of what's popular among the most discerning gamers on the net.

    My favourite Vita games are:

Super Stardust - Still my most played Vita game I think. More forgiving than the PS3 game but just as fun. If you like Geometry Wars you'll probably like this
Urban Trials - A Trials HD clone, PSN only I think. Free with PS+
Open Me - An augmented reality game where you have to open boxes fitted with cunning traps and secrets
    Killzone - It's killzone
    Rayman Origins - Lovely platformer.
Gravity Rush - Story driven action platformer. Nice art style.
    Metal Gear Solid HD

These are going to be subjective of course, but here's my personal favourites.

Phantasy Star Online 2 (Japan-only at the moment)
    Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
    Persona 4 Golden
    WipEout 2048
    Lemmings (Playstation Mobile, free)
    Switch Galaxy (Playstation Mobile)
    Jet Set Radio

Add Need for Speed Most Wanted, Lumines, Everybodys Golf. From the cheap PAL side of things.

Virtua tennis is superb on the vita, and was less than a fiver shipped from amazon recently for a new copy.

          Good idea for a thread.

Where is it at RPG wise on Vita?

Oh and is a PS+ sub worth the money for Vita alone as I'm not planning on getting a PS4 at launch.

Only game I have right now.

Fun little game, used to play 2 a lot on the Dreamcast.

Mostly struck in Japan, except for the well known series. I'm playing Conception II right now (a 3DS/PSV title) and I'm finding it average. I'll update my impressions thread soon.

If I was to get a Vita, one of the biggest draws for me is Lumines - yet nobody has mentioned it. Was it a disappointment?

                    Quite possibly.

Soon as you sign up you'll get uncharted and Gravity rush for free. You always get those two free. Right now you'll also get A clone in the dark, urban freestyle, new little king story. Every month there's 2 or 3 new ones. I have MGS HD collection, Silent Hill and Resident Evil (PSOne titles) and a load more I can't remember.

I think it's an absolute no brainer, even just for Vita.

on the download side of things

Thomas was alone (narrative driven platformer)
Soundshapes ( beck levels really are something )
A clone in the dark (fiendish puzzle platformer)
Super Crate Box (single screen retro shooter mayhem)
Oddworld strangers wrath (fantastic atmospheric shooter adventure game)

most played retail game for it would be Killzone Mercs, killzone mercs and killzone mercs

Yup, I have pretty much every vita game sat at home right now, and to me killzone is the shining star.

When considering a list, I find the Vita has a lot to offer (still doesn't help the months of nothing though...). My list includes:

Rayman Legends - platforming excellence and it looks gorgeous on Vita.
Uncharted - I preferred it to 3. Seriously.
Lumines - this doesn't offer much more than the PSP version but is still awesome.
Sound Shapes - This is tons of fun with great music and I made three levels.
Sonic Racing Transformed - Fantastic on Vita except frame issues on the Outrun track. Where's more DLC?!!
Mortal Kombat - Looks a little mucky on Vita but plays brilliantly with a ridiculous amount of content.
                            Everybody's Golf - You know Everybody's Golf.
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath - Whoever thought we'd get this on a portable? Amazing game.
Retro City Rampage - I like it.
Jet Set Radio - Great game, brilliant on Vita.

These are all fantastic. Wipeout looks great and others love it. Didn't do it for me, unfortunately but that's mostly because I'm a bit of an old school Wipeout purist. Oh and the MGS collection may not really be a collection (two is hardly a collection) but the games are really good on Vita.

The obvious caveat with this list is that a large amount of them are available on big consoles so not a huge amount unique to the system and that won't really help the Vita TV. But to have these types of games on a handheld? Bliss.

Ridge Racer. Quality game, misunderstood by everybody apart from me.
                              Kept you waiting, huh?
