Why no Ridge Racer (1) HD?

HD, 60FPS, TT leaderboards, and maybe 8 player MP.

At under a tenner, I reckon Namco would of cleaned up.

Why hasn't this happened or do you think this would be a silly idea?

Aside from publishing the Demons Souls / Dar Souls series of games, Namco don't appear to know what they're doing any more.

They tried something similar with the Vita version of Ridge Racer but you had to pay ?40 for a few tracks and everything else was DLC. I would love more companies release Arcade games at the price of a Coffee and I think they would sell on nostalgia alone, also it requires little work on behalf of the Developer.

Sega are the current benchmark for this, out of nowhere, they release Sonic CD, Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2, Sonic the Fighters and Last Bronx for a few quid a pop. Namco have such a rich heritage, they really are not milking it enough.

True. If I worked at SEGA, I'd be telling them to make something like Racing Arcade HD which would feature all their great racers on a Blu -Ray. It would have online leaderboards etc. I'm sure it would do pretty well with people like most of us here twitching over a 'Buy' button.

At launch maybe, sure I bought a complete version for about fifteen quid on PSN last year? my memory is terrible sorry.

Same here.

Anyway. Noobs couldn't play RR1 nowadays. It requires extreme skill to win. There's no rear view mirror, and no turbo boost.

Hopefully at some point it would happen. I would dream of a collection with Ridge, Reveloutions, Rage, Ridge III, IV, V, VI and VII and anything else I have missed. However I reckon it would be single downloads only the way things have gone at extra cost, but would certainly like to play a good HD 60fps version of RR4!

Sega....mmm, they missed a trick I think. They never did a home version of Scud Racer or Sega Race TV - the shame!
