Do PC gamers have any sort of "launch" days?

Like when a new gfx card arrives that blitzes everything? Or The release of win8....

Nope. Bit of a shame really. We have game launch days of course, but never for hardware :-(
I do love my PC. Overclocked to within an inch of its life and dual boots as a Mac too. If there was a way to magically make it into a console that I could play in the living room it'd be perfect. Hoping Steambox will do that. Until then I'll continue to console game as well.

I might have my own launch day next time I upgrade my GPU, but that'll be several years off now.

Let me know when it happens and I can use your PC master race avatar for the banner.

The next major release of Norton Antivirus isn't a big day for you guys?

The only game I've played on my PC recently is Grid 2, and must admit on ultra settings at 1080p it does look fantastic on a 42" Panasonic Viera. Hope it hasn't spoilt me for when Gran Turismo 6 arrives in a couple of weeks.

i am surprised its not a compressed file

upgrades for pcs like new hardware always feel like incremental upgrades unless your really wanting to spend the money

Yes the size would be dwarfed then.

Crysis was the last proper next gen-ish pc game. Before that Doom 3 and Half Life 2. These made me upgrade no question. I just had to play them.

Picked up a 6600GT for Half Life 2 and then a 8800GTS for Crysis. Both cards were utterly **** tbh in terms of fps for these 'upgrade' games but I needed to see them as best I could.

6600GT would have been fine for HL2. Source engine was always more based around your CPU so that may have been the weak link.

As for Crysis, that game is just a beast. Ridiculously high resolution textures that beat that of even Crysis 2.
