Were the PS1 games remakes of the Nes originals? Or completely separate entities?

They were straight ports of the NES games with galleries and so forth added to the front ends.

Nice pack but having X7 with the Nes 6 doesn't sit well for me, more a quick fix to bolster X7's sales. Plus a tad pointless given next years Collectors Edition's on GC and PS2.....still tempted though...
