I'm with Team Adromeda, Disc 4 was an awesome spiritual journey with beautiful scenery, unlike anything else in videogames before or since.

The Yakuza games were crappy GTA wannabes and nothing like Shenmue.

There wasn't a lot of Theft or Auto in Yakuza. So, nothing like them at all then.

They were awesome. First game had a superb plot and played really well.

Yakuza was good , but I wouldn't put it in my top 50 games , shenmue would make my top 10

I wouldn't put Shenmue in my top 1000 games of all time.

I have never played either. They both look a bit wooden game play wise, I might try a Yakuza one day.

I challenge Naka to name 1000 games better than Shenmue. 1000, no less!

Yakuza 4 - the only one I have played to any length - is brilliant. It's probably more interesting for those familiar with Kabukicho in Shinjuku. I have taken lots of photos of the area, and I love comparing them with Kamurocho. I can see how always being in the same area makes the games a bit samey, but it's so much fun exploring an area in a game when I know the area so well in real life.

Probably the worst "I live in Japan" post ever.

I've actually just got hold of a copy of US Shenmue, so that if I ever get a Dreamcast again, I can have a go and see what all the fuss was about.

I thought US Shenmue was xbox only? Or was it just the English dub that was xbox only? There must be a reason I've never played it (thought the first was a crap game but the hilarious dubbing made it worth playing, more of that does have a certain appeal)

"US Shenmue was a special edition of the first Shenmue released only in Japan, which is the North American release of Shenmue for Japan. It contains English dialogue, English loading screens and everything else you would expect from the North American release. The only difference is the option of Japanese subtitles and notebook entries."

                          On Dreamcast

Whoops, brain failure there, not sure why I thought it referred to the sequel.

Trust me, I wouldn't struggle to do it. Especially when you consider I own no MD or Saturn. Or 360.
