Probably the only handheld with a less visible screen than the GBA.

Can't really say I've ever held the NGP in any high regard.

Here you go. I did a video of Daytona USA running at 50 to 60 fps as that is one of the glitchy games. It will give you an idea at how glitchy the EMU can be. Sorry about the volume level, the phone is pretty loud and I had the camera's mic pick up set high
This is running on a Xperia ZL2 (maybe a Japanese only phone?) which is a pretty high spec phone with 3gb of ram! No idea how it will run on the latest JDX but it should be fine as the developer of Reicast says a dual core with 1gb of ram will be enough.

I also added Jet Set Radio (you need to get that) and the DS emulator which is pretty much 60fps on all games I've tried.

Thanks to Yakumo, a simple folder change was all it needed to get Recaist up and running, i'm now free of the Happy Chick app, which has been deleted as it throws files everywhere.. my ocd couldn't cope!!

Only issue with the NGPC is how far handheld gaming has come since those days. Faselei!, though interesting in its own right, is a perfect example; it's a decent enough SRPG but there are stacks and stacks of those on the GBA and DS, some of which are very good. The DS even has Front Mission DS. Sonic has a similar issue.

Cardfighters Clash and Match of the Millennium are definitely worth getting, though, because despite the years since, they're still both the best games in their respective genres on handhelds. It seems hard to believe that fighter on a console more than 10 years old is better than the 3DS version of Street Fighter IV, but really, it is.

Clash, on the other hand, is simply unrivalled, which is bizarre when you think how many Yugioh and similar games have come and gone.
Yes, that's true. I still enjoy playing all the games I listed though. I think it's a lovely machine.

Someone is selling a JXD S7300C for 5000Y(?30) and I've asked to buy it.

I feel like I can't go wrong for that price as it's basically the S7300B but quad-core and Eurogamer said that one is quite decent. I'm worried about this supposed 61Hz refresh but can't find anything online about it.
Colin: thanks for the impressions! Do you notice any regular juddering when playing games? The older the better(which would be smooth, 60fps normally).

Also, does anyone know if the android can be updated? I'll try finding this stuff out for myself but thought I'd ask.

Now looking for S7300C vs S7300B comparisons..

Funnily enough I sold mine, but just ordered another a couple of days ago due to working away from home again. Did consider another Vita, but not really enough on it I'd want to replay, so the emulation of the JXD made more sense.

I never noticed any juddering on any retro stuff I tried, and unlike most here it seems, I would have no clue how to discern if a game was running at 60fps or not?

I used the B model iirc and ran 16 bit titles really well although a slight sound delay on the SNES emulator. No issues with the frame rate that I could tell.

PS1 stuff ran pretty well too.

Did you order the S7800? That one looks pretty good!

Sorry, I should've been clearer. Originalbadboy posted that his JXD "stuttered like mad" and so did an Android HDMI stick he bought, so it sounded like some kind of issue specific to any device that uses the same CPU. From the sounds of things, you didn't have the same issue he did.

Hilariously, I found out one of the bugs in the S7300C is that it sets itself to 60Hz if you resume from sleep. So maybe that's an idea

That's good to know.

The main differences I can see are:

S7300B: Dual-core CPU, good support from modding community(custom ROMs, updated Android versions possible)

S7300C: Quad-core CPU, little-to-no support from modding community(I think JXD locked it down)

Yeah, S7800 again as I found it excellent last time. I saw another interesting looking one that was a similar design to a 3DS XL that looked quite interesting too, but better the devil you know sometimes.

Makes sense.

I think the video trouble was with the 7300 so no wonder it was fine for you

The guy hasn't replied so if this falls through I'll just sit and wait. Would've been nice to get one for my UK trip as I'll be going there and back alone. Alternatively, I've got three months to muck about getting a dual shock 3 connected to my iPad and then I could just use that

I gave up on the JXD but now I'm buying a Galaxy Tab2 7" from a guy for the same price. It's mainly to read comics on but at least Android allow USB game pads so I can use my Saturn pad with emulators. Finally dipping into Android

These look interesting: http://www.geekbuying.com/item/GPD-X...ck-347650.html, especially given its "Fodable and portable design"
