XB One owners would you have bought Kinect if it came separately?

I seem to be in the minority as I've had zero problems with the voice recognition aspect and it seems to work every time without a fault. If it wasn't bundled I'm not sure I would have bought it separately as there is currently no real game based software supporting it.

I think the added extra's it gives in FIFA 14 and NFS: Rivals are a nice touch and does add an extra useful element of immediate control but yeah it's all voice control and you can achieve that with an extra mic on a controller like Charles says. The only thing it's immediately useful for atm is the auto sign in and code redemption.

Daragon, have you tried recalibrating with the volume right up?
I can say things very quietly and almost casually and it picks it up every time.

I think its best feature right now is being able to record snippets of video with the "record that" command. Really nice and doesn't distract from the game, plus its one of the commands that always works for me.

Really I think the hand gestures stuff is really hit & miss but the verbal commands could be tweaked and enhanced over time. Given my accent issues I really want to see them tailor the experience personally to the gamertag is use. If it can identify myself and my wife in seconds and sign us in (which is also really cool) I'd then want it to know what our pronunciations are when its listening for them.

I wouldn't even mind if it did that by asking me to repeat a load of basic commands for it. If it raised the accuracy to near perfect levels then it's surely a win.

I always forget about the voice controls and then get frustrated because I can't remember the exact phrase or the kinnect just doesn't recognise me. For these reasons I find it quicker navigating with the controller. I also just don't have the space for any kinnect games. I tried the jetski game, but couldn't back up far enough and never got it working. So I would most definitely have preferred not to have one if that had been an option.

In fact it was almost a deal breaker in my choice to buy Xbox One. It was only because none of the games really require it to work that I picked one up. Well that and Killer Instinct.

I didn't know until recently that you can tilt Kinect, I thought it was a fixed angle on this new one, my mind was blown.
As for Kinect, curiosity would have got the better of me and I would have picked one up for Kinect Sports Rivals definitely.
Also once I started reading about people using voice comms successfully and watched videos at how good it was, I may have buckled earlier too.

Gets me every time and I think that's cool.

I seem to have an issue with my profile, Kinect never recognises me, and i have to type my password in each time i turn the one on too! it's a real pain in the arse it also refuses to save my password, a quick Google seems to say that deleting my profile and starting again will fix this, bit worried about loosing my saves though.

Voice commands are pretty cool i like being able to say "xbox record that" when something cool happens in a game, but like chalrles said couldent a mic in the xbox (or the headset) of done this as isn't it all run server side like siri?

Kinect flat out failed last gen to prove itself as a viable gaming device and never quite got its wiisports moment, a lot of the big budget games flat out failed to get any sort of critical praise Starwars, Fabel, Steel Battalion. These games would have been better without kinect. Pod racing on starwars was quite a decent looking racers that was spoiled by silly kinect features and poor controls. Likewise Steel Battalion was lampooned for its awful controls.

Kinect sports rivals hasn't convinced me i don't like games where i have to hold my arms up to steer as, holding your arms out straight for 20 mins leaves you with aching arms. in addition this is a very imprecise way to control a game that lacks feedback and accuracy, as shown by all the games that use this control method.

strangely the PlayStation camera has got more use than kinect, not from me, but form the kids. They love playing with the robots in playroom and its nice that Sony keep adding to it, The ninja bots racing game is pretty good fun and gets quite a bit of play and Double Fines My Alien Buddy has also proved popular.

With E3 just around the corner no point in buying now either way. Better to wait and see which games you will be playing this year.

All the saves are stored in the cloud, you have to physically go and delete each one to remove them from the cloud.

I formatted my Xbox One a few weeks back and everything came back as I had left it once I had signed in again.
