    Sonys Sent me a birthday cake YAY

    i would give both these companies a 2 out of ten in the effort stakes. Digital tat is cheap, how about some credit for psn xbox live or a discount code.

    Has no one else got any promo stuff? Sony used to send out postcards which was quite nice, i remember having a collection of ps1 game postcards laynards ect, they used to be quite active with this sort of thing and its so much cooler getting something through the post than just an email, i still have the FFVII postcard somewhere,

    During my college days my friend used to work at Electronics Boutique so we used to get all sorts of posters and t-shirts and random bits, i still have a massive framed Street Fighter Alpha 3 poster, but the life size cardboard cut out of Devil Jin from Tekken two didn't survive.

    It was quite common for Sega to send Saturn games to put in the demo pods too so i used to get those when they were throwing them out, I have Manx tt super bike and Die Hard Arcade still too though both are on blank looking disks in promo boxes, but work perfectly on my pal saturn. the best freebie he got me though was a boxed Nes which had been used as a demo unit and been in there store room since the 80s it was immaculate and still works to this day despite having had been on 14 hours a day for god knows how long.

      I kind of like the retro 80s amateur desktop publishing vibe that Microsoft were going for with their cake. That is what they were going for, right?

        It reminds me of when we got our first PC in 1995 and using Microsoft word was the most fun I could have. Clipart ftw

                I once wrote a paper letter to Nintendo PR back in the day, after the launch of 1080 Snowboarding, asking what the lyrics were in the main song.

                Got a reply letter saying they didn't know, but they included a fold-out store promo figure for me to enjoy. A cardboard boarder with a cardboard leg to make it stand up. The kind game stores would put on their front counters. About the size of a computer monitor maybe (though flat, and cardboard). Actually, it could have been even wider than that.

                It was so weird and random. I loved it. I wonder what I did with it.

                    I had an inflatable Banana that came from the Donkey Kong Country ice creams.

                    A really terrible Prince of Persia sands of time watch

                      You would not be bored if playing air guitar to this beauty while reading that story. I dare you chimps, turn it up to 11 and rock out.

                        You know I only said that because you said "board" five times in one post?

                            Indeed, I bawled out loud at your bold post, for I have a broad sense of humour, since being bald* and living abroad.

                            I just wanted to coax you into playing air guitar to strange Japanese metal. A colleague might walk in and ask: Mr Chimps, what are you doing?

                            Mr Chimps might reply: I'm rocking out because someone on the internet dared me to!

                            * not actually bald
