Wow, what a great "next gen" we have, devs won't even bother to release their games on the new hardware.

To be fair, I'd be amazed if this isn't effectively like a game long Borderlands 2 designed to keep the money rolling in as Gearbox develops Borderlands 3 for next gen. Hopefully this is more compelling than I found 2 to be, 1 was amazing stuff, like an obsession.

Just like, if true, the rumoured AC Comet, this seperate game for current gen using existing engines approach rather than doing compromised versions of next gen entries is a neat and savvy idea. Especially as you just know they'll end up later on porting the game anyway as an 'enhanced' edition just as we've seen happen on current gen with all the HD collections, handheld to digital and current to next gen ports. Easy money and double the content for fans.

Bingo. Immediate thought was that was a Bioshock 2 or Batman:AO style cash-in whilst the true Borderlands sequel is probably a year or two away and the publisher is likely keen to milk the franchise.

Enjoyed the first game but preferred the second game as everything is more refined and there's more variety. As well as improved story, characters and design. However if these rumours are true then I have little interest in this and will wait for the 'actual' sequel. Still have some of the DLC to even start yet on BL2!

My worry is that all the BL2 DLC that was developed outside of Gearbox was all filler stuff and largely monotonous. I hope this isn't a full game of that.

What really has annoyed me that no website has mentioned is that the last dlc for borderlands 2 the valentine special actually had included with it (the pc version anyway) the actual final son of crawmerax and is complete and can be played through if hacked

Would that make it the first on dlc dlc ?

I never knew this. Also if that's the case there is no credit on the Wikipedia page. I personally think both games have large amounts of filler anyway even in just the base game. For example there's tons of MMO style, go back to this area again quests.

                  Lynchwood

                  is appalling for this.

Still as I mentioned before I thought BL2's original campaign was more enjoyable than the first game and had so many standout moments and enjoyable quests. I've only played Scarlett and Torque DLC and have found both to be relatively enjoyable. Torque is more humourous but some of the quests and areas have been disappointing. I need to have a go at Hammerlock and the Tiny Tina DLC. I agree there's an element of fan service in these but isn't that to be expected?

This is one of the areas that Borderlands needs to evolve. It has loads of MMO style quests but with none of the various other activities to break up the grind. Also the character levelling whilst improved in the sequel is still really basic.

I am always surprised that BL2 doesn't get more hate for it's DLC. It did so many no-no things including; locked away pre-order items, DLC outside of the so called 'all inclusive' Season Pass, In-app purchase style costumes and promo items that are unattainable unless you are happy to subscribe to their Twitch channel for $20. If EA or Activision pull these stunts they receive absolute vitriol and hatred in response for doing so.

It can take the cost of owning all BL2 to over ?100 and all credit to Gearbox/2K as they have been raking it in. I think even being very savvy (GMG and GAME download sales) it's still cost me ?25 plus ?40-50 to obtain all the content. I'm only missing the recent 4th and 5th (will be final) headhunter packs.

I'm not sure on the answer to the question, as the game has been through so many patches and downloads that I can still imagine that even if they re-used assets there's been some work after the release to put it together. That said they absolutely had a road map for DLC years prior to release and therefore I'm sure some of this content was ready and included with the original game release.

The Vita version of BL2 is out May 6th for the NA crew. I'm toying with the idea of getting the model 2000 bundle.

Without sounding too negative it really is a BL2 expansion just with new levels and classes. Everything in terms of the graphics and interface is ripped straight out of BL2.

That said it'll be fun and I know I would enjoy it,but going to try and be a bit principled and concentrate on my backlog or new games like Destiny. I imagine I'll pick it up in a Steam sale at some point although I assume they will again release a Season Pass and DLC etc.
