Depressing that one guy has done this on his own while Capcom with all their resources have successfully killed the series with two **** games.

There's no reason why a new game or a remake would necessarily have to retain the tank controls, though I personally like them as it adds a sense of limitation to what the player can do - fear is heightened because you know you can't just mow down all the enemies.
As for the level design, they make more sense if you see the levels as entire puzzles in themselves. Sure, they don't make a whole lot of logical sense (why would the key to this door be right down in the basement, requiring an unrelated crest to access?), but once you get past that and see the entire police station itself (for example) as one massive puzzle, it makes a lot more sense.

I recently played 2 again myself. Now it used to be my favourite Biohazard game, but this time I found it hella boring. There are hardly any enemies save for a select few areas. It's also incredibly easy. I got an S-Rank on my first try, and I hadn't played it in at least ten years.
I'd appreciate a remake of 2, but it'd need a massive overhaul. 3 on the other hand still holds up well today. If they remade that, it'd be badass.Kept you waiting, huh?

Even Resident Evil 4, brilliant game though it was, had the small problem that it was very different to the older games. I loved it, definitely my favourite action/adventure of that generation, but Resident Evil 1/2/3's appeal hinged heavily on how they took the limitations of their platform (having to render 3D-on-2D, tank controls due to not having twin-sticks etc.) and made those problems into strengths (dramatic camera angles, a combat system that forced you to fight or run but rarely do both). This is the antithesis of, for example, the 3DS game, which I believe instead rails against its platform (cinematic game on a small screen pre-XL, really needs twin-stick controls on a platform that lacks them).
People come down on 5 and 6 like a ton of bricks, and given, they're nowhere near as good as 4, but at least 4 shook things up and 5 tried something different. I think 6 is the only one I've genuinely found dull.Last edited by Asura; 14-04-2014, 09:17.

Looks lovely. I think he could have taken creative license in some areas, and as someone mentioned, you'd tweak the lighting and what not to refine and refine, but it's brilliant brilliant work.
A Resident Evil 2 remake is literally a check waiting to be cashed. Capcom are going the way of sega unfortunately.

Even the visual style is divisive. Some fans would want them to stick with the more stylised anime look of the original, whereas others would want something which uses the look of Advent Children/Crisis Core (and if the hypothetical FF7 remake looked like Advent Children I'm not sure I would want it).
Resident Evil 2, on the other hand, is much more workable an idea, because they'd do one of two things:
1) Make a game that's like RE2 meets Code Veronica with modern visuals
2) Make a game that's like RE2 meets RE4 with modern visuals
That's pretty much it. And either option would probably make a good game, even though we all probably have preference for one or the other.
